I was browsing the Academy of Art's website the other day and I found that they offer online degrees in Illustration and most of their other majors. Now, I'm not considering attending or anything, I just found this to be quite perplexing. How is it one is suppose to study "life" drawing a painting via the internet?

So, out of curiosity... has anyone "attended" these classes or has anyone else even heard of this before? I would love to know how this works.

:)

(if you haven't heard of this and are as confused as I am, check out the Academy's site)

I suspect the courses are offered via webcast on a restricted server. You know, a video conference type of thing.

I've never taken an online course in any visual art, and I would be very skeptical to enroll in one. To me, it seems that a studying artist should have input from their instructors while they draw.

I was considering going there for a while, but outside there were ex-students protesting during the tours: "Don't join the Academy of Vortex!" or something... Quite a turn-off.
