I never was amazing as an "artist", that is, the guy who actually puts the pen/paintbrush to paper. I tried, and I'm not horrible, but I can't compete with those dudes featured on this site. But on the other hand I have the kind of ideas that a lot of artists wish they had. Is there any opportunity out there for someone who thinks of/sketches the ideas out for others to illustrate in full?

And is there anyone out there who wants to collaborate with someone who does that kind of thing?

well at Disney's Imagineering Studios they have these "sketch artists" but most of them are as good or even better than the guys on the CA.org frontpage.

but if you put your mind to it, you can do become anything you want. it's all hard work

Talent is overrated. Anybody with a good attitude can learn it I think.

I wouldn't try to get a job as someone who comes up with ideas.
Better write books then ;)
There are many good artists with a great imagination.

How old are you?
Maybe look for a backup plan and try to learn how to draw/paint the hard way.
If you don't want to put a lot of effort into learning ...
well there are a lot of people who have ideas they would love to realize.
Don't think that makes you that special.

I have many ideas too that I like. I guess most members here have.

You can look in the non-paying art jobs section.
Maybe there are game projects with 3d modellers who don't expect great sketches!?
Not sure if that is what you are looking for though ...

I think that if you have the additude and will power to learn, then you can. Some people are just born with a lot of talent. But, others have to work a little harder to get that far. But, don't let that get you down. Just remember that there will always be someone better then you at something. You can literally never be the "best". But, you can be the best that you can be. And with that kind of determination your bound to get some skills and land a nice job.
