View Full Version : Biggest work of art I'll ever produce..... Meet Rain :)
Sorknes
January 13th, 2009, 01:50 PM
Here she is. :) The almost exploding tummy is (somewhat) gone, and there's a new person in our lives, and she's taking over all of it!
Meet Rain Siren! (Siren as in the Norwegian name, pronounced Seeren/Searen.) She was born 02:31 am 8th of Jan GMT +1. She was 3680 grams and 50 cms. That's pretty big for a girl that everybody thought would come out way too early, I'm glad I managed to keep her in until almost due date. :)
We're very lucky, so far she's not crying a lot, she sleeps so nicely that mum can get some sleep as well, and she's very active and curious when awake. She eats a LOT and is healthy in any way we know. <3 <3 <3
Here she is, three hours old:
563910
563911
And here she is a little older, sixteen hours:
563912
563913
563917
So, another CA spawn, hehe. :)
And before anyone even tries, no, if we got a son he would not have been named fog horn :P That the two names together ended up a bit weird in English was just a coincidence. :P
If it were a son, my husband would probably insisted on calling him Ramifications, Ram for short. >.<

Excellent! Congratulations!!!
That's wonderful! Enjoy, you're gonna have your hands full now. One tip - the first time I got my son to smile at me was at 3 months old, when he saw me brushing my teeth.

Hm, it looks pretty good, but you should practice your anatomy a little. The lighting isn't very believable either.

Congrats both! :)
Despite the fact i've only ever held one baby in my life, it was probably one of the most awesome experiences you could have. Even though it was my ex's-sister's, it still sort of brought about a sense of needing to protect it.
Having your own must make it that much more special.
Though I bet if I ever become a parent i'd be a worrier.
I guess being a worrier is bad :D.

Aww she's beautiful Sork (for a baby) lol Well done you did a really good job of the nose and eyes, I always find them difficult to get JUSTright you know? ;)
Can I make a suggestion?
You know at the end of cool animated films they have a tradition of doing a list of "production babies"?
Could we produce a thread on here were everyone who has/had a baby during their membership on CA posts a little portrait photo along with babies name so we end up with our very own record of CA's production babies?
Just thought it might be a nice thing to do :)

Thanks a ton you guys! <3
Of course we think she's a beauty, but we're kinda biased. ;)
Peter, her due date was actually yesterday, which would've been her granddads birthday... I tried to hold her in, but I couldn't. ;) Happy belated to you too!
No, Grumble, you cannot eat her. She might try to eat you though, she keeps trying to suck on everything that happens to come nearby. :P
Jessi, nope. But she can have all my best pencils if she wants to! We're thinking about buying her the first set of fingerpaint so we can take imprints of her hands at this small size though. :D
Tangrim, colour scheme seems to be slightly... red. Hehe. Character is open for interpretation for now...
PuppyKitten, I totally admit it. She's a paintover. Of her parents. :P So far at least, hehe. Lol!
Penabled, yep, red hair. Golden red, to be more precise. We're already shivering. She got it from me though... so my husband should know how to deal with it. :P
Alesoun, yeah, if I'm trying to do that TD thing as well, there will be little time for scramble! Lol! I have my pencils and sheets ready whenever I have a lil time though. :)
No, Cookie, you can't have him. He's the one that helps me getting sleep every now and then. :P And he still does the food thing, I think I'd starve if he weren't around. :P
Ilaekae, thanks. Can I say I'm bloody proud myself? :bashful: And she *is* almost as big as me! 50 cms is just lacking 3,3 cms on being a third of my length! O.o
JL Alfaro, I'm already starting to get pretty handy with just one hand, just you wait, I'll do this in no time. ;)
Astrophea, I think the nose and the eyes came out pretty good myself! Lol! A thread like that would be really fun! We've been quite a lot of people popping lately, haven't we? :D
Thanks to all you rest as well! Things are going swell here, we're amazed we're doing as well as we do, hehe.
Here's a couple more photos... With her favourite deity visiting. And with her mum. :)
If anyone wants to follow a blog or something (we're a few that's popped and like to keep an eye on each others spawn...), the pics will be HERE (http://reign.dk/sorknes/blog/)
Thanks again all everybody <3 <3 <3

Here are two more tips that might help - if you already know then disregard, but these were things I never found in my "how to be a dad with a baby" books, that would've actually helped.
1. When the doctor gives her those vaccines, each one has a side effect of causing a fever, and when the doc wants to give them all at once, then that fever gets really bad - as in your daughter red in the face, crying all night, can't be put down for a second or she starts bawling, total agony. What can help is some infant tylenol. With your doctor's okay, give a dose before the vaccine, and then another later on if she needs it.
2. Part of your daughter's process of development is teeth appearing. Which involves each tooth breaking through the gumline, and blood pouring out her mouth, all accompanied by a lot of pain, crying, and fever. No one told me this, and I completely flipped out the first time it happened. I thought he must've bit his tongue off or something. Don't worry it's normal.
