if you all are looking for competition
you can just do the dsg every day and judge for yerself hoew well ya did, but there are just too many entries (some of which span several images and a whole 3 to 4 page thread) for judges to be done in just a few days or even a month
and if you really are itching for a challenge, create a topic , email me and challenge my ass ill give you the whoopin that youve been waiting sooooo long for;)

im sad to see that noone of the thunderdome admins replies to this. I understand people giving up saying that "the result aren't important"....I do agree to a vertain degree, to participate, getting the creativity going is what counts. BUT, it's still a contest and every contest needs an ending, a result, something that wraps it all up. If not it's nothing else than a thread with art, like any other.

-For you guys that dont care about it being a contest and wants to go on, start your own Thunderdome 8 then, with no results no contest and no ending...you dont need the admins of this board to do that. But I'm sure atleast half of the participants of this thunderdome will not join, because it's not a "contest" and therefor less fun.

I'm disappointed, hoping that something will happen, end this whole thunderdome thing with some "we're sorry line" or come up with some results or ATLEAST give us all a status report of what is going on.

Keep cool...the td judges always took a certain time, even if it seems "insanely long"...

Jason and Andrew were busy all the time to organize the workshop and believe me, the ws was it worth to wait...now they returned home and it'll take its time again to contact the judges, organize the prizes etc...

When i first saw TDome 7 competition, it hit me like a brick fallin' from a 10th floor. With so many competitors, judging could go on and on and on... And this just prooved it. I have a simple sugestion how to organize this, and to finish it with much less trouble:

1. In each tread, three or four artists, with one theme. Only one of them wins.

This way, you would have 50% less threads. Than in one special thread, in ONE post, one of contestents put ALL 4 finished pieces. I don't see a problem, judge just open a thread, scroll it down and write down winners. This could be done in one afternoon.

2. Dead line should be much much shorter.

Two weeks to one month period. Enough time for those who really want to compete. If someone dosen't finish 'till this dead line - sorry, last pic you posted counts, and if there is none, then you're out, fair enough.

I think this would be very efficiant way to run TDome. Restrictions like this would open much more possibilites, like semi-finals, finals, and of course best-of-the-best aknowledgement for the winner.

Ok guys, ive spoken to the people in charge. They are all in overload at the moment - it is a very busy period of production at the moment.

A lot of things are happening in and outside the forums and it is one of those times where everyone is unfortunately busy at the same time.


However here is the update:

The judge has been decided and finalised, judging HAS begun.

The prizes are now in.

So you shoudn't feel like thunderdome has been forgotten. It has been a very tough competition to judge, but everything will work out and those who slogged their guts out to make good art will not be overlooked.

All i can recommend is to stick with it.......theres a reason the pros are so busy, and you will understand in the near future! and suddenly all your thunderdome worries will drift away.

i just busted the bank getting a 12x12 wacom. the learning curve is messed, but i think im getting the hang of it! to be a artist now a days, you need a sketchpad :( i missed the days of conventional mediums, and im only 17 :P

If there is only 1 wacom tablet and one Painter 8.0 and some games, and if everyone had different topics and challenged different people...does only 1 person win the wacom tablet? and based on what..since these are individual challenges..


a professional is viewing the images....choosing his favorites of each battle...and will announce the winners. he is then choosing his favorites from the group and awarding prizes to those who are his personal favorites.

What happened to the impartial judge? They didn't die or anything serious like that, did they? Is this thing still being judged? What's going on? What happened? Will it ever end? Why aren't there any updates? I can probably get a random university art student to judge it, if you guys need help. It'll be done in a day or two, at the most. There's a whole art community here. There's alot of support. This doesn't have to happen. It should be done already. There's been plenty of time. The workshop came and went. There's no excuse for why the judging has to take this long. If someone doesn't have their files hosted anymore, they probably lost intrest and/or bandwidth. Pretend like this is Mortal Combat and Finish Him -- uh it already!!

well, in the end judging isn't -really- the important part... i mean, sure it'd be nice, but the idea of the mass projects in general, like tdome and the challenge threads, is to build up this community, make some new pals, make some new art, and have a good time.

I can't really remember specifically for tdome 7 since it's been so long, but I'm pretty sure I experienced all of those points.

Besides, this has gone on so long that it's now gonna become an inside joke.

Next tdome is being jduged tdome 7 style.
