hello there!
Been lurking around here for some time now, looking at all the lovely art.
I finally decided to create my own sketchbook to make myself draw and improve more, hopefully ;D

Here's some drawings, old and newer, in no particular order:

January 20th, 2009, 01:46 PM
Heya, thanks for stopping by.
You have really lovely sketches, that "girl with glasses" is really cute and I also like your WoW characters, I browsed through much WoW fanart and you're paintings would fit there, with their specific style.

Meon
January 20th, 2009, 02:59 PM
sweet blood elf! :D

areve
January 20th, 2009, 04:37 PM
Jonish thanks, thats nice to hear :D

Espenboi yaay!

My sister likes to roleplay and she asked me to draw two of her characters.
The one to the left is from Shadowrun, she's a typical wizkid and has a robot arm. I need to make her look younger..

The one to the right is from Werewolf the Apocalypse. She's a treasure hunter, loves shiny things and doesn't care about her clothes.
Her face need to be less cute ;D

SPACEMOD
January 20th, 2009, 05:00 PM
You have some really cool things going on here. I like your character designs.

Keep it up!!!:)

Just_Nonplussed
January 20th, 2009, 08:14 PM
hi areve,

did you know that you called your sketchbook link 'sketcbook'. :}

i was wondering how much of yourself you see in your characters. do you see them as little people, or just drawings?

areve
January 21st, 2009, 07:15 AM
SPACEMOD Thank you :)

Just_Nonplussed Oops, need to change that ;D

I do believe that there's alittle bit of myself in my characters and I always try to form a story around them, how does their world look like, what do they do and so on.
I like creating stories and worlds for characters, it's fun even if I don't get it down on paper, written of drawn :)

AlexTooth

There's definitely potential here. Those rpg character designs are coming along nicely too.
The wizkid's pose is a tiny bit off but it's not distracting. Keep it up. :)

Hi areve,

I have to say that your style is something I really envy. It is the style I have been dying to get but never got and never will. I guess I'll have to get my own! =D
Anyways. I can see an improvement especially regarding your faces and shading. Your poses seem nice and natural and your characters original and fresh.
Few nitpicks would be the extremly bend/stylized front leg of the walking I-pod girl, it just looks wrong and detracts from the movement rather than add.
And the placement of the features of the blood elf portrait seems off too, so check that one out.

Cheers mate

Christoffer
February 2nd, 2009, 04:29 PM
Good job on the rendered one. And the reworked face for the rpg characters have much more character now.

Felida

I like the way you stylise faces, One thing I'd watch for is making sure that the feet are always grounded and in perspective. Nothing that won't get ironed out with practice though. I'm interested as to what direction you'll take your stuff in. Keep it up :D

fuck yea! The girl looks really good! I think u might wanne check the length of her upper legs, that is if u immagine her without the pants, youll see that the upper leg from crotch to knee is a bit too long.

Also on the other one where u see her Back left shoulder I think it needs to be a bit wider that is further to the left, other than that this looks really good.

artificial_green

Love the style, also in the ref people studies. They are converted to your world :P If I have to post a comment, the eyes you draw are mainly very wide-eyed, dreamy, looking away. It would give your characters much more personality if they had a real 'look' on their faces.
Thanks for your comment in my Sb ;)

Wow, I was making a crit based on your first page, I looked at the others and had to delete my crit, cause you already took care of those issues, it's a big improvement in a short time. Congrats, I love how natural your drawings look, the freshness. Love the expressions. I like that you're not doing ultra tall characters :P

I think you can improve your painting skills though, and I want to see that :D

I love the way you draw girls, sometimes I find it difficult to make them look right because of their more delicate features :D looking forward to more!

AestheticMachine - thanks, I find males to be more difficult ;D

Some really nice stuff here!
I really like where the last one is going, the silhouette works well and it has good flow.
Funny how you are good at drawing females but male characters are difficult, lots of people have this problem. I can't draw a woman to save my life! :P
It's all in the studying I guess. Keep going, you are doing well. And draw a dude or two while you're at it!

Started working with 3D in school, heres two of the assignments :)
3D is fun!

The first one, with the girl, is my first completed 3D render.
the second, a lowpoly object max 500 triangles

I like your sketchbook a lot. Got some good stuff in here :)
What program are you using for 3d rendering? I've been thinking of giving 3d a try.

Very nice!

I love your style, I know everyone says that but it is really nice. You put so much life into your characters' faces, it is incredible. You have a great grasp of clothing and outfit design.

Where do you go to school? It must be an awesome place to give assignments like that. I'm a game designer/artist so I've looked at a lot of game art type-of-places and a lot of them seem lame.

Keep up the great work, it is inspiring!

That chainsaw is super fun. Everything should have clocks especially chainsaws! And cogs, you can never have enough cogs.
