Hi folks,
I'm not very good at introducing myself, so I try to keep it as short as possible :)
my name is Ben... 'nuff said^^
so, we got a new year and this might be a good opportunity to start my very first sketchbook here on :yayca: .
I'm not sure if I can update this daily, coz I have no scanner/camera. just can't decide on what I should spent my christmas money :p
now on to the visual part: here are my "works", critic is very welcome, so don't hold back. (besides, i don't mind hard words^^)

you mean the vegetables and fruits? i have a lot more of them, but i didn't think they were interesting^^
at the moment i'm trying to apply this "technique" to my figurative studies. but i think i need a little bit more time to get it.

Keep up the good work...
i like the style u're exploring, but have in mind that each surface have its own... so try some variations ... for example the last sketch - IMG_0002.jpg
the render of the skin and the trousers couldn't be the same :))

theUNKNOWNsketcher thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the hint, this might just be right in time... pretty stupid of me not to think about that and i was wondering what was wrong :P thx!
dessinateurimpulsif ah ok, now i get what you mean^^ i'm still trying to learn how to do it the right way :)

like many others have told. i also like the initial sketches in the thread. its got a unique style which is really gud.
how about trying the same style in digital works? if u apply that kindo strokes in ur digital works, u can achieve amazin outputs.
all the best

Very nice studies! I think the shading on your figures arenīt as strong as on the still lifes. Maybe itīs easier to shade the body if you think of it as made up by the basic shapes.

@Vishnu.Ram.S thankx for stopping by, it's definitely worth a try, but at the moment I'm struggling with mit cheap-o-tablet... raising funds to get my dirty lil' hands on an intuos 3 A4. so digital stuff is on hold right now.. :(
@Mumph thanks for stopping by, too! yepp, you're right, i dunno why, but I was kind of "afraid" while shading the figure studies... but, i'll upload new pix of newer studies which are shaded like the fruit-/veggie- studies. pretty frustrating not being able to update my sb daily:( definitley in need of basic equipment....

hi guys,
some new stuff, not as much as i had announced but i'm a bit to lazy to scan em all right now, will do that tomorrow... i promise!
so, here we go, some acrylic fruit painting^^had to do it in art class, sry for the crappy quality, was shot with my mobiles cam.
the other ones are older male figurative studies.
so, well, tomorrow/saturday i'll upload quite a bit. 2 paintings, hand studies, posemaniac studies, 2 drawings, and a robot/steampunk piece I'm working on (thanxs for the inspiration Americandodo!)
that's it for the night,...at least for me^^

Great work, I can't wait till tomorrow when we get to see a few more! I still say you have an awesome eye for shading. Personally, I am scared to shade things, I don't know why, other than I am scared I will screw up my drawings. But you have got that down! Anyway, again, I can't wait till tomorrow to see some more work from you (I may not be able to reply tomorrow, as it is my B-day, and I may be out partying, HAHAHA) Well.....keep it up! As for the inspiration....I don't know what I did, but your very welcome ;)

Well, it is tomorrow, and I don't see any new stuff ;) (just giving you a hard time, hahaha) I know how things go, it seems like there is never the time to do the things you want to. Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for the birthday wish you left me. Take care, and I will be back to check on your updates =)

wow. Good work! I especially like the pencils and that hatching style. Really good sense of form and good range of values and light/shadow.
The dude in post 7 looks like his torso needs to be a little higher and his feet are friggin HUGE!

Nice to see the update! My favorites are your studies, and your art class stuff very clean lines, and awesome shading...which I still think is one of your strongest points!). I am very curious to see how your "draw 100 people" will turn out! So far so good =D Anyway, I really see an improvement with this last batch of works.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
