thanks bill, its always a rare pleasure to see someone work like that. He does take his time and is very tedious, huh?

He actually came and talked to my illustration class at CCAD about a month ago, and let us watch him while he worked on a current project.
Instead of drawing with a tiny brush like in those videos, he used a larger one and was laying washes on the background, following the "bead" of the stroke.
Basically watercoloring with acrylic.

Really neat work.
