hellboy trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/hellboy/)
New movie by Guilermo Del toro, of Blade 2 and Devil's Backbone fame, staring that vampire warrior from Blade 2 with the bomb in his head for half the movie. I don't know, looks really sweet, and Del toro always does sweet monster and demon designs ( reapers):) Your thoughts?

I thought Tim Bradstreet designed the Blade 2 stuff. I know he designed Lighthammer (i think that was his name). He was probably the coolest looking character. The Hellboy movie looks like its going to rock as long as you accept it for what it is, something unbelievable.

well, i know Tim did some of the concepts, such as lighthammer, but Del Toro used to be a designer and all his movies have similar monster styles, so i just assumed he was in on the design process:)

The movie looks pretty good! Hellboy's costume and makeup look a bit cartoonish but I think given the quality of the comix it's got a good chance of being good regardless. Thanks for posting the trailer.

I think Mike Mignola (The creator of Hellboy) did a majority of the concept work, I mean, it is his intellectual propoerty after all.
Mignola also worked on Blade 2.
Anyways, Hellboy makes for an excellent comic-book, I am a little worried about it as a movie though..... we shall see...

I think they did a great job preserving Mingola's characters. They changed Abe but for the better I think. He looks more believably fishlike which looks good for live -action.

As a huge Hellboy fan I'm really hoping this turns out well. I'm not too sure how I feel about Del Toro as director though. I loved The Devil's Backbone but only enjoyed Blade II from an aesthetic perspective. From interviews it seems pretty obvious he at least respects the source material, which is a good sign. I try to comfort myself with the fact that Mike Mignola is supposedly heavily involved in every aspect of the production, but then again, Frank Miller wrote Robocop 2 and 3 so....

hey just saw the trailer for the first time yesterday before watching Paycheck and not having ever read the comic book im not to knowledgable about the story or background. introduced to it originally by pics here on CA and other art forums when i saw the movie version it seemed to my he looked big and "chubby" if you will. seemed to me they should have made him less cartoony looking and more "realistic". in x-men movies they looked like they could be real but it might work out well. im looking forward to see it and the Punisher movie.

Everything looks real nice, except for Hell Boy. They need to make him more realistic. I also think that people wont' go see the movie because of the name. if someone has never read the comics then why would they go to a movie called "HellBoy"? I wouldn't.

well,it looks extremely cool(though i've never read any comics, maybe that'll change by now;)),but hellboy really looks as unrealistic as one can be.somehow that messes up the whole movie.

Hellboy looks alright, except for the skin make-up...there's so little value there and it doesn't reflect and absorb light the way skin does...it just seems to have the same small range of values of red in every light...still, i'm hopefull. but, i was hopeful for the hulk too. time will tell. doesn't matter though...they'll get at least $7.50 outta me...and probably $20 for the dvd whether it sucks or not. my money for next year is on "Sky Captain" and "The Day After Tomorrow". Also, has anyone seen the trailer for the sequel to Pitch Black...i think it's called the Chronicles of Riddick. Looks promising...though in the wake of the last barrage of Matrix movies, it may be passed off as a Matrix ripoff. that's my few cents.

I don't know anything about Hellboy except that he looks totally stupid. The rubber costume sure doesn't help.
