EDIT: Thank you very much for all of the great submissions. The position has been filled.
Hello!
Having found an excellent penciler, I'm offering speedy payment for comics finishing -- that is, coloring tight pencils directly -- for a 35-page gay action-romance comic to be finished by the end of March. I am looking for an artist who can create publication quality digital art (450 dpi CMYK TIFFs at 8.75" x 11.25") and although I am based in San Francisco, I am happy to collaborate over the Internet with an artist not based locally. Submissions will be open until January 20, 2009. There will be a one-page paid Art Test from one of our penciled pages for those whose submissions are the best fit for this comic.
This is a work-for-hire project, full payment upon approval of the pages for publication (and installments paid as stages of work are completed throughout the project). Payment will be $65/page. I pay very quickly and am happy to use PayPal, Xoom and/or MoneyGram for those not local.
For this comic, we are using a naturalistic style with clean lines, expressive characters and uncluttered backgrounds. You will be coloring the pencils directly.
For coloring, I am looking for a highly-rendered, naturalistic style, something that will give the pencils a three-dimensional feel without hard cuts or super-saturated skin tones. The effect should feel subtle, realistic and attractive -- these are ultimately romance comics.
As you would be the finisher of this comic, you would also be responsible for some final clean-up of the line-work -- making sure that the darkness of the lines was even, fixing minor issues like stray lines, etc. -- thus strong line-art skills are a big plus.
This short comic -- "TOUGH" -- is about an attempted fag-bashing that gets turned back on the attackers in an unexpected way. It is the first of seven chapters. There's action, humor and some romance. (And while there is no explicit sexuality in this particular comic, future work would certainly include tasteful and artfully drawn erotic scenes -- you should absolutely *enjoy* the prospect of working on a gay-themed romance. If you feel any squeamishness around this at all, this is not the right project for you. In fact, "not being squeamish" isn't really good enough, the work would actually have to be fun for you to create.)
The first 12 pages of the comic that you would be finishing can be seen at our (somewhat Not Safe For Work) blog:

Send comics experience and links to colored sequential art (a must!) to
artistsearch@gmail.com
If we work well together, there would be longer projects, also for speedy pay. (Also please let me know where you found this listing.)
*Please* do not respond unless you have actual comic pages to show me (in additional to single panels, which are, of course, helpful, too). I am looking for someone with experience in finishing sequential art, no exceptions.
Artists I have worked with are available for references (that I pay on time, etc.)
Thank you very much for checking out my listing -- I look forward to seeing your work!
