Well, it's somewhat annoying these days, I can tell you how I'm doing it for now... hopefully it will stay working.
Get a free page at www.geocities.com. Goto the file manager for your free page and upload your images. Rename the images and change the extention from ".jpg" (or whatever) to ".txt". Copy the location url of the image... then you can come on here, make a post, hit the IMG button and paste the url.

Oh yea?? I wish I woulda known that, I was wasting so much time yesterday trying to find a place to host stuff.

www.domaindlx.com = The best host on the web. they offer 100 megs, no bandwidth limits, no filetype limits or anything.. pure genious.. I hosted at 250free before but they cut you off at 200 meg bandwidth pr month, sucked bad imo.
These have fast registration (I did it in 4 minutes) and found the file manager to be very easy in usage..
Man I sound like some kind of advertisement.

I like the way you're colouring those sketches. What kinda paper are you using for the markers?
Keep at it!

Thank you for your post in my sketchbook thread. You have some awesome work here, the way you work with markers creates the right amount of value and your characters are dynamic and
Responding to your post, I just try to shade to create the most subtle value, for quick sketches however, I create value by how much i space out my strokes. When I draw I try to have i guess what you could call "confident" strokes. I try not to be hesistant, there are some great cross-hatching techniques shown all over conceptart.org. For practice, you could try purchasing a newsprint sketchbook, fairly large something around 16x20, and practice long straight strokes across the page. My friend whos applying for art center in the transportation design major practices drawing strokes and circles, i think it really helps.
Actually I really like your shading, the value plays out perfectly, you already have an excellent grasp of value.
Haha and yes, Ive been working on a half life 2 mod (we were expecting it to come out on sept 30) so a lot of my work was based around half life 2 environment.

does n e one know a good website for anatomy studies. I think if I study that up I can start making appearances of my anatomy studies :) also i am using domain dlx to show my pics. Does anyone know how to make the actual site because I have know clue as to how I can (I read how, but it seemed tough  ) All I have been using it is for uploading jpegs (and I heard they take away users that only use it domaindlx for storage) Need feed back:bash:

Theres actually a lot of resources here at conceptart, i learned how to draw from kchen and iwasink. If you look at iwasink's adventures at art center he talks a lot about figure drawings, theres a lot of good tips in his thread so if you get a chance check it out sometime.

good work obid619.
i like the style you have. always take your time when drawing. as long as you don't ruch and you get the most out of a drawing as you can then that;s how long it should take. there's no set limit or anything!:D

Its somewhat hard to tell whats going on, i think the contrast is to low, just a suggestion, maybe try doing some real life references and build yourself around what youve been able to observe, i think its wonderful that youre so persistent, I think your work is going to drastically improve with your attitude.

I WILL IMPROVE :D
I've been drawing from as early as I can remember. Thanks for your comments people, and know that I WILL continue to draw. I used to draw a lot of anime, which I would admit, hindered my skill (not saying anime is bad or anything). But i will look more on real life studies and become a better artist :)
:bash:
My teacher showed me this book called "Drawing from Life" by George B. Bridgeman. I was SO struck at how AWSOME that book is that I ordered it online the same damn day. I'll advise all of you to check it out (i'll bet you'll want to buy it afterwords though). Famboozle, you'll like it too. It covers the human anatomy so simply, yet at the same time its complex. Trust me people CHECK IT OUT :D.

In response to your post..many thanks for those humbling words...I went to academy of art college located in san francisco_the school is okay if you take the right instructors, but they didnt motivate me enough, and its really expensive for something I can learn by myself...
If you want to learn how to draw(well in my opinion)..you have to absorb information slowly, 1st you should learn how to draw still life and draw it with or without detail aslong as it has the likeness of the object, 2nd go draw harder objects until you get comfortable with shapes,3rd learn contrast and how it gives objects a more lifelike look, 4th learn anatomy and focus on gestures make sure you focus on movement and rythm, 5th then practice on mastering all of the things you have absorbed and implement them on your drawings..dont be afraid of exploring your own style, dont copy from someone else, but build from it....

now you know why i don't post more often.
most of the time it's hard to notice the improvement and there's always something that needs to be worked on. some people keep their old sketchbooks to remind themselves of the progress (i keep them too, that helped a lot through the hard times). i respect your decision and honestly think that if more people thought like this, we'd get a lot less junk around (not calling out anyone, some of my own stuff is in this category too- it's that stuff that's in no-man's land- it doesn't do anything for the artist or the viewer).

obid - you've got a wild imagination man, the one with the tree is nicely developed. I think every person on this board wrestles with the progress their making and the level their at (this worry pops into my head several times daily.) Something like learning to draw is a slow process, the noticable signs of progress only pop up everynow and then with lots of jaw clenching, sweat and fury interspersed between. But when you see it it's worth it. My fig. drawing teacher said everyone has an alotted number of bad drawings they have to make before it starts working. This is absolutley true and applies to everyone. (im not ragging on your work, just making a point)
just keep drawing man. iss-all good.

thanks alot steak. Your one of my biggest influences bro. I'm trying to create a style. But I believe that I have to learn the basics before I start on style. hehe. Any way progress is so damn slow its frustrating at times. But, hell, you gotta put up with it. Thats what i'm trying to do. I'm going to do some skeleton drawings soon. Then i'll do muscles, then on, and on. Trying to do a little day by day. Thanks
..AND WHATS THIS. 2 drawings in the same day?! WOW. hehe. another art assignment-hand holding object. I thought it was good for like a 30 minute sketch :D

Looking great, obid.
As for the piece that you wanted 'harsh' criticism and suggestions: I think it looks great, but it could use some darker darks. Things are just not popping out the way they could.

Hey, I appreciated what you had to say about not wanting to post until you had a certain level of satisfaction w/ your work. That's a big reason why I don't have stuff posted, but I think I'll start once I get my scanner back. I was gonna tell you my 2 favorite pieces, then I realized that they're the same one: the finished cover (and the unfinished, work-in-progress pic of it). I can't tell if it's smudges or just a bad scan, but something's hurting the finished one. I actually like the work-in-progress pic better because there's more contrast (it's also a better scan, so that might be part of it). But like van said, I think it could use darker darks and lighter lights. more contrast in other words. but I'm telling you, the wip version is quite cool!
as far as an avatar image goes, it should be similar to posting images, just type the url in the appropriate place in the User CP. But maybe I should get an avatar image first and make sure I know what I'm talking about. Keep at it, bud. drawing that is.

Hello me again. Thanks for all your encouragment :)
van- I don't know why I cant get very good blacks. Must be my scanner or something. Maybe i'll try to buy 6B pencils or pen my stuff to make it darker thanks
lupicani - yes. I'm taking more time. I've gotta do more anatomy so I got a lot to learn. Its frustrating, but I can definetely see lots of improvement from my past sketchbooks, so i'm kinda happy
dacoscwash - I know. he's right though. I think i'm gonna make like a million bad drawings before I make my first good drawing. Yes...i'm waiting for that good time to come (if it ever does
elboy - DUDE thanks for telling me about the avatar. As you can see i'm now sporting a da vinci avatar (i thought it was a cool one anyway). Its wierd how the finished piece didn't come out as good. I sware I think it might be because of my scanner. But I might need to work on my darks so...i'll improve on future things like that.
famboozled - thanks a lot man. You keep posting as well, cuz I know you got lots of cool stuff. It seems all my drawings are blurry cuz that unreal drawing looks a lot better on paper.
swift - thanks. Yea that coke can did look kinda wierd lol. I was pressing hard against it so I tried to make a dent feel. But I think it came out way too skewed because of the way I put it in my scanner :/ oh well dumb me.
here is a another self portrait. I didn't spend that much time, because I was trying to identify where all light sources were, so I wasnt much focused on proportion. Yes, I have a wierd head, what can I say. I still love me though hah  .
Yes, the right eye is wierd

nice, you should try using line qaulity to show where the shadows are and such. Meaning thickness of line,no actual shading, helped me out tons. I get distracted and overwelmed as well when it comes to all there is to record. ALL IN ALL NICE TO SEE SOME NEW STUFF "HOMMIE." When you feel the need you should check out some books on charascuro." lupicani - thanks homie :D . yes, shading is hard as heck, so what I thought was I should just identify where the light is hitting an object (in this case my head. I wanted to see which areas where lighter and darker). It seemed to work out alright though, and i'm learning from it. Thanks again
SHTANKS TO ALL!
Rich - thanks man!
cartoonfox - Thanks. I'm gonna post your pic ASAP. and yes...i'm trying to lay off the counterstrike and do more drawing instead.

Hombre no problem and such. I don't read very well like to look at the pictures you posted so correct if wrong but has anyone told you of "villipu's" books? Or of course there's insightfull mister " henry gray" for that educational aspect.
ohh shazamm just went online to find more for you in that realm and found this site"www.vh.org " go under human anatomy and then the "cross section" and there are some brains exposed god lov'em anything to do with the cross section visuals. you might as well take a look, didn't check whole site to see if they have any larger scale anatomy in cross section amazingness...
Did you check out that rant i said in response about Polyklietos to your crit of my cheese? check if you have not I think the " art of the contrepasto" would bennifit heck I know it still bennefits me. You'll have to google it, though didn't get to far into it. Spelling illudes me:)

QUESTION:
I JUST ENROLLED IN THE ART INSTRUCTIONS SCHOOL!. This is the first time that I think i will really improve my art. I want your opinions though, if you guys ever heard of it. The school is like one of those homeschools that they send you packets and you submit work and it will be critiqued. It seemed cool to me, and I thought (it was somewhat affordable as well), that it might improve myself. SO, I'd like to know what you guys think. Thanks

Are you taking this in place of college? If so, unless you really can't afford it and get financial support, I'd say it would be best that you go to college. If not just for the experience. You'll meet people that share your interests that you'll know for the rest of your life. And it's better to be taught directly by a teacher. It's also good to be comfortable with drawing in front of other people. And definitely take some figure drawing classes. This is just my opinion though. Your work is good and it can only improve. Can't wait for some more of your stuff.

well I think one of the most important things to do is life drawing/painting. I don't think you'll get this at home unless you enroll in some sort of workshop. the community of a school is a great enviroment too that you won't get at home.

is the art instruction school the same one that used to be called famous artests school ? where thay send you asigenments and supposedly theres professionals that crit your work and give you advice ?
if it is you might want to think about it ..
check out your local college or hit the nearest art institute and ask there about corses <alot of the artinstitutes have like sit in models weekly for figuredrawing, sorta a club really >
either way i guess if it works .. the beauty of going to school /attending a lecture/seminar/workshop is the comunity .. you get ot be around many other peole that are doing or want to do the same thing as you and thats really the most helpfull thing i can think of <kinda liek a real life CA.org

Hey Obid, your work is looking awesome dude. Lots of improvement over the course of time as shown here. You seem to have a keen eye for proportion and value. Not too bad with composition either.
My suggestion for you is to focus on pencil technique; work on improving your detail work. In short, keep a sharp pencil and sketch diary handy and draw all the time. :D Draw in your sleep if you can figure a way to do it.
I'd be a little hesitant about the homeschool approach to art school. The things you really need from a school experience, as Liam.c said, is community. Assignments are nice, and so are structured critiques, but the real thing to be gained in a school setting is rubbing elbows with other crazies who like to draw, piant, sculpt, whathaveyou....I'm attending the local community college, and having good folks around both at the student level and at the professorial level keeps me steeped in
the mindset of producing art. Its a very positive thing. Helps keep me regular :P
Best advice still, is keep to your path, and keep drawing and painting every day.

Thanks for your opinion guys. Here is the website for that art instruction school. http://www.artists-ais.com/about/index.shtml
I kinda went in with the program, it seemed it was cool. I just really want to improve, and I figured that the program will train me in all areas of art, which i thought will be cool. I understand the need for community (like good'ol CA) and i hope that i can take graphic arts classses in college. Although, I am not planning to make art my major, i want to continue to improving my gift and to maybe put it to good use trying to get a job during college. My view of art has totally changed when i entered CA because of so many kick ass artists (especially Lung :D ). I like how so many people do studies, but frankly i get bored stiff trying to do that stuff. I also suck trying to copy stuff from magazines. it almost gets to the point of frustration because I know that I cant improve from just drawing from my imagination (although that is important too). But I figure that if I just draw for a couple of hours a day, I might just improve and get to a certain degree of goodness. Anyway enough of my dramatic speech, i'll post more stuff ASAP. My f'ing scanner is always f'd up i swear. :upset:

What comics you should get? Blacksad. It's a european comic (graphic novel, actually). One of the best there is.

Theres alot of energy here keep pushing man, Dont get down, take your time and take paced steps. Maybe do an anatomy page one day and an imaginative page another. Have a good time dont get fustrated, by doing you will improve without realizing it.

Hey Obid!
That supersucks, man! Sorry to hear about that! I was gonna say, I looked thru yer sketchbook thread and I see lots of improvements. I hope you will keep going. I know life can sometimes get in the way of art-time, but I find that those moments alone chanelling the artistic impulse are almost like meditation. It clears the head of other worries and gives a release...a place to funnel any crap thats weighing you down emotionally. It's cathartic.
I hope you come through the other end of your problems stronger and recharged, ready to make some awesome artwork.
We'll be waiting here for you whenever you get back!!
Good luck pal!~~~JadeDragon

hey Obid. You've got some great pages in here -- you're well on your way to being a great artist if you put the work in and it sounds like you are. Shitty that you're leaving but do what you gotta do man. Jade put it best, concentrating on one thing can really clear your head. You'll be surprise how much you advance if you immerse yourself in drawing.
Best wishes dude.

Well, I kinda feel a little better now. i suppose i can update a little. anyway, i'm still not "kickass", but i'm getting there :[ . I am actually doing a lot of studies right now. i bought a drawing book called "drawing the head and figure" by jack hamm, and it is quite awesome. anyway here is some studies. the left side is stupid cuz it was blurry by the scanner. my scanner blows, so what can i do. its actually really really retarded that my images look a lot better than my crappy scans : / . anyway thanks for your input ppl. i appreciate, especially by steak and JD

Today, i seriously thought about how I am going regarding my art. i have made a pledge to make a schedule which includes 4 days - study anatomy/human figure, 2 days - study from life (i will attempt to go outside and draw stuff around house and park or look from ref), and 1 day to study concept art (like studying pro's). Hopefully through the course of my improvement i will include color, other materials (like pastels and oils) and perhaps even digital works (when i get good enuff i will buy a wacom, perhaps nex year). anyway, this is my first 'ok' study page. it was extensive enuff for my tastes (for now anyway). i hope to be more observant later on. anyway , here is my truly first steps towards greatness :confident
madoliane - thanks lots!

the last few updates are looking great. the studies will pay off in no time. taking notes will help alot too. a crit: try thinking about planes more, hard and soft edges too. simplify complicated forms like heads into planes. it ll make it easier to understand how shadow falls across the form.
keep going dude.

You are doing really nice, I can see the progression
and its going real fast keep at it, and keep doing the
face studies, and eye studies too, they help a lot :D

since I see you draw a lot of heads
or at least heads are major portion of the pages here,
here is suggestion:
draw more of them, fill everything with heads, just make them looser. less refined, less time per head, less "i want to make it look the best i can"
draw it to learn, to practice a specific you have
like the eye-nose-mouth proportion, for example.
you can draw them really loose and sketchy, just to practice the proportions of them inside an ellipse
you may get more actualy *practice done that way..
