Hello, I am currently searching for skilled concept artists who would like to paint viking / medieval low fantasy concepts for our MOD / game project.
The artists who choose to apply at this time will found the core art of the entire project.
It has been in development for a few weeks now, and we have created a firm frame and concept of the entire game/mod.
Name: The Norse
Engine: Unreal 3 (total conversion mod)
Pitch:
The Norse is a brutal and gory 3rd person Hack'n'Slash multiplayer game with light role-play elements. The player creates a character after his own fighting preference and then join the mayhem and slaughter on the battlefield. The Norse is a fast hands on action gory melee experience in a low fantasy Viking setting based in the world of northern mythologies. The player enters a world where the northern clans fight for land and riches, Join their raids and aid them in their lust for conquest!
Core features:
¤ Simple character creation and stats
¤ The ability to Dismemberment your enemies.
¤ “Everything is a weapon” Beat your enemy to death with his own severed leg, or just with a Sword or a chair, its your call.
¤ A trophy reward system: what is more satisfying than having your arch enemies severed head in your belt?
¤ Movement based combo combat system
¤ A main weapon arsenal with 13 weapons and 2 shield types.
¤ Special combat features as, Bashing, sprint charge, Defense stance etc.
¤ A wagon load of emotes and taunts.
¤ A in-game inventory system that makes players able to tell what gear a character have on first glance
¤ User-friendly menus and interface
¤ Powerful Admin Tools
¤ Personal score statistics
Discourse:
The game is arranged in several game types whom work different from each other, there are:
Death match: The traditional all on one and one on all game play, generally known as Free For All. The player with most kills wins!
Team Death match: The same as death match, but with teams.
Raid: One team is defending a village, and one is attacking. The attackers start on a ship, and will engage and burn the village, and take all of the treasure back to the ship to secure it.
The defending team needs to endure the raid for at least 10 - 15 minutes with at least one sack of treasure left.
Tavern brawl: The players can hang out, socialize and have a blast fighting each other with furniture, or go outside and duel each other 1 on 1 or free for all, this game type will be structured to be Role play friendly.
The games have a set time frame, made by the game host. Also the game host decides how many rounds of the same map there will be before the map will change.
Goals:
We want to create a unique dark world in a over hyped Viking inspired low fantasy environment were you participate in gory battlefields and have fun while doing it. With sadistic humor in mind we are turning to the more mature audience and plan a “step by step” content adding over time in order to create a flexible and enjoyable game experience for anyone who likes fast melee combat and brutal humor.
Developers note:
The project is supposed to be a very simple, small, fun and tactical game. We aim to make a fast gameplay with a simple learning curve. The game is based on the expression “Agon” which in designer language means “Player skill based”. We have analyzed the market for this type of gameplay and have found that the public response was overwhelmingly positive.
We are now at the founding stage, with only a few core members, whom are working hard to get a homepage and a forum site up and running to be our home of operations. Core design has already fallen in to place, And the mod progress will be highly organized at an almost professional level.
Compensation:
We are hoping to get support funds via the community we are aiming to please, If successful we will turn the mod in to a full game. And all team members will be rewarded depending on their performance. Credit's will of course also be given.

I Am one of the brains and fire behind this project. I am a graduated game artist and i have done 2 projects in the past. I can almost say that i know what i am doing, you can check out my homepage at http://www.mek3d.se
