I haven't touched SketchUp in awhile but god damn has it saved my ass in the past as well as taught me a lot :) A good crutch at times.
Here are some rather old illustrations and the models, kekeke. God these seem like a lifetime ago... I think these helped me land a job by the way :O Gasp.
I'll try and dig up some from work tommorrow.
This was the first illustration I did with SketchUp, back when it was first released by google.

Almost forgot I used SketchUp for this one...

Haha ok, you don't need the .skp for this one. It's just boxes you cow!
Rarrrrr, I still like this one and the next one...

I lost the model I guess, but again - just boxes :P
Somehow I managed to mess up the perspective working from a 3d model, shit yeah! This model took me awhile, good learning experience...

I did this big ole labyrinth for an illustration I never even started, hell just building this thing was enough work. I can only pray it is of use somehow somewhere for someone.

Is the sketchy linework a rendering option in sketchup? Or is that your drawing over the rendering?
Just to be clear, I'm not asking about the fully painted images.

Davi: Thanks for starting this SketchUp section dood! If I can help with my limited knowledge lemme know!
Brashen: Glad you like and it's my pleasure.
MattGamer: Seems like so long ago huh? Because it isssss! Like 2 years. How you been?
tmbritton: It's an option within sketchup, they have quite a few options really. The sketchy linework just makes it easier to render over and camoflauges the 3d. It's under the Styles window. There are many presets as well as more hands on customization.
Victor B: My pleasure!

Been playing with Indigo (Kerkythea), a renderer for SketchUp that someone mentioned in the forum.
This was with the "ruins" .skp up above. No clue about rendering but it sure seems to take awhile... actually I'm not sure it will ever quit. Been going for 6 hours and I can barely tell a difference in the last 2 or so. Poop.

Seems promising - would save a ton of time and increase the quality of a paint-over me thinks.

Great stuff. Concepts are really cool. The last one looks very good - will definitely save you time when painting :)

Third Eye: Thank ya sir, I've since had more success with Kerkythea than I have indigo. Definitely worth checking out.
Dani G: My pleasure! Be sure and post your progress!
Steak-tron: Thank ya sir! Wish I had more to share, I dug up some from work that I can share now - they are below. Can't wait to see what you have cooking for us in Dallas :)

I hadn't really planned on sharing these images. These are all copyright Disney Interactive, done for work of course. I'm not really that proud of them, but thought I would share because SketchUp saved my ass quite a few times when I was given a super short deadline or asked to move things a foot this way or a foot that way :\ Haha. Anyhow ...
Oh, most of the vehicles are from the SketchUp Warehouse.
Ooooh, and I think the character sketches used for scale are Taylor Krahenbuhl's or Sam Nielson's.

Wow. These are fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Still it's good to draw freehand perspective from time to time ( or I'm too oldshchool :P ).

Yeah dude, SketchUp has made for really good crutches as well as a cheat sheet as I learn to freehand :)

Just.. wow! I like to see someone using SketchUp for artistic purposes :)
Anyway, why do you prefer Kerkythea over Indigo? I've tested both renderers fastly and I've got a impression that Kerkythea is a helluva faster, but rendering results were a bit lower quality than Indigo in lightning meaning. Perhaps it's just a matter of rendering settings? And have you by chance some renderings?

Unfortunately I've only used Kerkythea for work so everything is still under NDA. You can bump up the settings with Kerkythea and get a comparable output I do believe, but honestly for something I am going to just about completely paint over it's not all that important as long as the big shapes are there.
Kerkythea also has some nice options that come in handy while rendering in 2d such as; depth renders, mask renders, diffuse as well as ambient occlusion. I don't know, it's a lot more full featured and user friendly than Indigo but I guess it all depends on your purposes. :)

Is there any chance that you could add a tutorial on how exactly you use sketchup to create a finished piece? I'm kind of lost once I get the picture into photoshop. Just don't know where to begin.
