Thought I'd try a piece of tattoo flash. Haven't decided what to put on the cards yet.

I was looking through a book of Kay Neilsen's work for a few ideas . . .

I was only meant to use vectors but I had to pop into Photoshop to finish up

I like these colours best so far. Maybe post a couple of the alternatives later.

I've made this one a little larger. They were drawn to print at A3, so they look a bit weird online.

The 'caramels' one also looks better without the transparency

Thanks but those links don't say you're a concept artist looking for work, or someone from a design company or posting a sketchbook. Please don't post your linkbait to my thread again.

jpg copy of last post. I'll stick to only posting the larger ones in future. The png file limit just makes them too small for the flat colour.

Helps if I attach the file.

You should try using some simple gradients. You could do it without violating your vector graphic limitations.
I'm kind of thinking along the lines of what you see in traditional tattoo designs. (American traditional).
Also, you should try making some actual American Trad. tat designs, you could make money selling them and it would be really fun to actually tattoo one of your clean perfectly symmetrical vector designs!

Thanks! I'm sort of exploring vectors. Very different at first but I'm trying to add/ adapt each time.

After life class I got into Photoshop, comic art, Bauhaus, Golden Age of Illustration, worship again at the shrines of Klee and Kandinsky, Scots Colourists, tattoo and surfboard art . . . I'd be kind of upset if they looked like "drawings".
'Water off a duck's back' to me but some of your multiposts are very discouraging for young artists. :uzi2:

interesting style... you have iconic lines...
maybe you prefer just to show your talent in that style but i wonder how you start these pieces, and other than that, how it'll look like if you try (or have) pieces in some common techniques, sketching etc...
thanks for sharing, hope to see more...

Thanks :hatsoff:
Started with cheap photocopy paper and a 4H or 6H sketch for everything I've posted.
Play around with pastels, watercolours and brush pens when I get the time and space.
