I notice that a lot of artists do things in a very linear way, maybe to make their process easier, but I think this might result in things getting predictable.
Can anyone name some artists who use techniques that are different than the standard? I saw one artist who got a variety of different colors just by smudging one color, instead of mixing it with another color.
I think technique can make an artwork more interesting and complex. It makes it less like a photograph, and emphasizes art as something that stands by itself.
