what happens when youre pissed that you still suck and you put tons of effort in.
you get mad and draw anatomy over for 6 hours straight.

and a character i was working on but quit. everybody kept saying it was me.

studies studies studies.
so these studies are the product of an
angered obsession session. 4am to 12pm nonstop.
i dont even know how to apply what im learning. i dont know why i bother

but here we go.

i figured if i shaded even the bone and muscle studies.
it would force me to look at it longer. and possible it would give me a better grasp of the depth and dimension.

Your figures are great! You should do some super dynamic shadowing, it would bring those studies to life! Regardless though, thats some great stuff

its good to see you're doing lots of anatomy studies even though you're leaning more towards the "anime" style with your other stuff.
most people who do the anime shit completely ignore anatomy and dont study it at all. its refreshing to see someone with a brain.
haha
keep goin man, i think you're on the right track.
:D

im actually trying to move out of anime so strongly.

i have tons of manga artist influences. but id like it to be more of an influence instead of the definition of my style. its hard to change.

i quit anyway
what am i talking about

loadedpencil
May 5th, 2009, 03:18 PM
trying to get my "style" back to a more simplified realism.

working on shadows instead of just hard lines i guess.

(edit)

and now i go to class.

Heh, you're definitely getting somewhere with all your studies. You may feel like you're not getting anywhere but somehow you'll put what you've learned to good use. Keep doing some anatomy studies, though, as I see little anatomical problems here and there.
Keep pushing, though! I can see you're moving very quickly out of that typical anime style, which is great. I started off doing anime as well and it took me forever to get out of the style on my own.

you're on a good start!

Anatomy study is good only when you know how to apply it, for example, for a particular pose. It's better to find a photo of a pose, or pose yourself in the mirror, and see how those muscles you studied work in real life. You can even try and draw in bones and muscles right on the photo.

Also I would suggest doing separate objects or parts of objects/subjects for details. Like, if you like drawing ladies from adult sites, draw a single boob with all the details. Or draw their eyes, their lips. In color or otherwise. Also you might wanna try to pick up the color in the photo and use that for drawing. Later on, when you get better, you can use your own color matching.

i have no idea what im doing.
so im going to take your advice and do a series of close ups. and try to do some muscle studies.

thanks home skillet.
