I am off into the Heavy Metal zone with these characters. Post apolcalyptic fall back into tribal savagery... Have worked on it for so long I am really really ready to call it done, but before I do so, I wanted to post it here and get a critique, (please).

there's no disputing the attention to detail. the makeup designs remind me of the posessed folk in ghosts of mars.

the lighting is very soft. it may be my monitor, but still. granted it's an outdoor scene, but that's way too well-lit. increasing the contrast between areas of light and dark would make this a much more impactful image.

good job.

To me, there seems to be a lot of stuff fighting for your attention here - the rocks are nicely modelled, but I think less contrast / detail in those areas ( particularly the rocks beyond the stream ) would draw more focus to the characters. The body paint and rocks have a very similar hue - introducing another colour in one of these areas would also help. Even some subtle mist or spray from the water might throw the figures forward.

I agree with Malicious - more contrast would add some punch, but I like the soft lighting on the flesh against the metal elements on the main figure. Perhaps 'hardening' the armour with a few brighter highlights as you have on the sword blades would accentuate this even more..?

These are minor points though, which I wouldn't have raised had you not asked. It's a really nice image and personally, I'd be happy to call it done as it stands! :)

:) Thanks guys. Thanks for the crits. I'll play with it some more, see if I can tweak a thing or two, (if I can find some time) and post an update.
