Is that good enough for an artist that would be posting on forums?

I don't post much stuff at all, but 10 GB seems like more than enough anyway. I get 1 GB per month over at doteasy.com. You might want to check them out for hosting unless you've already got a domain or host picked out. I got their $0 a month deal and it's been cool for me.
By the way, last summer my friend Tommy Stanton aka Swampbug from your guys' Lucas Arts internship told me you went to CCAD. I was wondering if you knew Max Ulichney or Joey Beckley. I went to high school with them and was thinking about them the other day. How are they doing, if you know. Tell them Nick Hiltner says hey if you see them. Man, going home for Thanksgiving made me all nostalgic, hehe.

Yes, you will be fine with that much data transfer allowance. Think of it this way, 10GB is 10,000 MegaBytes so that's about 2,500 mp3s someone could download off of your website in a month :D Also, there should be a utility to see how much data your webpage has transfered. For example I share a webpage domain with 2 other people and we have a 20GB data transfer limit and we were only at about 500mb for Nov! So, you should be fine.

Not sure ... if you want many images with filesizes over 500kb think of it this way ...
how many views do threads you post in get each day?
Will you post tutorials?
How much stuff will you post?
I am under 1 GB all the time but I compress all my images a lot
(because I only post studies that don't need to be posted in great quality)
And I don't post much.
The head tutorial by fredflickstone caused about 50MB traffic the first few days.
And that was after most people had already seen his version of the tutorial before it went down.
So it depends on what you want to do.
Be careful with the big providers. There are cheaper ones who offer more for the money
(because they have to)
Maybe look for hosts that let you upgrade to another plan that allows more data transfer ...

I was thinking the same since I'll probably hook up with 1and1.com... The 5G/month limit worries me.. especially if I want to put big files there..
