Ok they are compressed ... I guess a fifth of the filesize.
I think the quality is OK though.

Can anybody tell me when they are down again ... I'll edit the post again.
Converting to gif!?
They are still 200kb big then. But I guess it would be a better solution for the original versions. Maybe too big for me though.
Maybe I'll do it ...
or maybe the images won't be down again because the thread gets less hits?

Great tutorial! Gotta try this one out.
Signature: if you still have the originals, Try to compress them as gifs. It's only grayscale images anyways, meaning that an indexed 256 grayscale colortable goes a longer way than a compressed fragmented jpg. The quality will be heaps better with the same filesize.
