I'm encountering strange problems in Photoshop Elements 6, I've attached an image showing what's wrong.

The first error is strange dots when I try drawing with just the standard hard brush. I'm using as constant a pressure as I can but it's oddly changing the opacity.

The second issue is that when I paint over an existing stroke, it won't fully cover the stroke unless I use excessive force on my tablet. I've tried turning on and off the airbrush button but it doesn't change anything at all.

I'm running an Intuos3 on Vista.

I'm not familiar with Elements, so it may not have the same options as regular Photoshop, however, if this was regular Photoshop I'd say that the random dots may be caused by Opacity or Flow jitter being turned on. Jitter is a way to add randomness to your brushstrokes and it can be applied to a lot of different things. The second problem might be that Opacity isn't turned to full strength, or it might just be that you need to play with your tablet option and have it account for a lighter touch so it reads full strength without you needing to bear down as hard.

So, if you have any kind of brush options in Elements start looking there to see what is turned on or off or what the settings are. If that doesn't help then check tablet settings.

Thanks for the reply, but nothing is working.

The second problem really isn't bad, but it's super annoying. It's like the airbrush button won't work at all. It's not incrementally adding more paint on top of my other brush strokes the more I go over them. I don't know if this makes sense...and this might just be how a tablet works with Photoshop, but I don't like it.

Here's an image of my brush settings and tablet settings (within Photoshop).

I've also played with the tablet driver settings and it still won't work.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I got the problem solved, I just had to reset the brush settings and it now works fine...except for the airbrush issue.
