Theo Jansen is awesome. I went through all of the videos on his site a while ago and actually attempted to build a small scale version of his "animaris rhinoceros" to integrate into a high school physics project that I was doing at the time. It worked pretty well, but it was really fragile. Still have it, but it doesn't really work anymore.

I actually think it's pretty awesome just how amazingly simple the walking mechanism is.
