Welcome Harry,
i need an account to view this, and I don't want to sign up.
Posting your art in a thread in the sketchbook section or WIP/Critque Center is the fast way for us to see and crit your work.

Not that I'm al that experienced with digital paniting either, but here's some suggestions and things I learned that helped me out:
-Try going on youtube and looking up speed painting or digital painting videos. There's usually lots of tutorial vids. If nothing else, you can watch them and pay attention to how the person in the video paints. I picked up a few good techniques from this
-Avoid using complete black or complete white in anything you're painting
-Instead of using any "blend" or "smudge" tools, try instead to use several different shades of a color to blend things. Yes, it's time consuming and it takes practice to get any eye for the right colors, but you'll get good at it if you practice
-Try reading up on anatomy and body proportions. Be sure to keep things like perspective in mind, especially when drawing/painting any realistic subjects
-Assuming you haven't had any prior painting or art experience, make sure you are willing to put in time and effort to make something look right. Sometimes getting something to look just right can take hours
-If you want to know how to do something pertaining to technique, or even something about this site, try using the "search" function. People tend to get cranky when new people keep asking the same questions that have been answered a million times
-Don't be afraid to post things in the critique center. Granted I haven't been here for very long either, but I've never seen the people on this site say anything like "you suck, you'll never get better". All the advice I've seen is helpful. Just don't get butthurt if people criticize your work
And lastly welcome to the site!
