I have a picture I've been working on that I've been planning to print at 60 cm x 30 cm at 300 DPI. But now I kinda wanna upsize it. Alot. Maybe even double the size. Is there any way to do this without it looking like crap? Would the blur tool do the job?

Please help, I'm kinda in a rush.

The blur tool will make the problem worse, as upsizing tends to cause fuzziness.

My suggestion would be to increase the size but leave the pixel size the same (lowering the resolution). One benefit is larger images require that you stand back further to really see them, so the lower resolution may not be so immediately apparent. If someone gets in close it may not be so crisp, but most viewers will be seeing it from futher back anyways. Unless your image relies on very fine details it will probably look fine.

Yes, you can usually go down to as low as 150ppi and get acceptable results, especially for large format prints.

Thanks. I did upsize it to the double. What I did try was I used smart sharpen on the linework-layer, and that really worked wonders. Then I went around and repainted certain areas until it looked nice and crisp. Wow, photoshop filters are actually good for something.

Have you tried selecting the "nearest neighbor" option in the image size panel?
