Hey guys,

This is my first DSG post. I think these are going to be a good way to get me sketching various things. It's great to be given the topic like this. Coming up with something to draw is half the work IMO!

Anyways, these are kind of big jars, but what the hey, I didn't feel like drawing dusty little jars.

Here it is:

http://www.bradkurz.com/aliens.jpg

total time: about an hour

I could have spent more and brought in some other colors, but I didn't want to overwork it.

Miau: cool spider, I also like the smoky lighting, but I would rework that stand for the potion. my only suggestion. :)

Crave: that's pretty funny. I would not have thought of teeth (dentures?) as a lab specimen. not bad for a 15 minute sketch too.

lol great idea with the teeth
bkmini, im stunned! :D this is really awesome...
ep i dont like this potion too .. its too green and its lightning doesnt really fit
wanna see more!
edit: fixed it now

Miau: wow, thanks man. I wasn't expecting to stun anyone. I'm gonna try to participate every day, so you will see more. :)

nBT: Thanks for the welcome. You have an interesting style. I love the colors in this piece, but I am not sure about the brush. The square edges are kind of harsh in some places. That little fish thing works great. If the rest had that same quality it would be even better.

good job. where is everyone else's? I guess it's still early.

Spent way to much time on this.
I couldnīt figure out how to add reflections with out obscuring the content to much, and which brush to use.

Bkmini: I like your tanks
Mjau:The spider looks better in the new version. The glow is a bit too harsh though. Like it.

paper slayer: thanks, your tank is pretty cool too! I like the bubbles. I thought about adding bubbles but didn't like the way mine were looking.

Anyway, I had fun with the first one, and I was waiting for some wash to dry, so I thought I would do another.

the queen found her babies in this one:

quite a few good ones so far.

on this one i wanted to do something that conveys a feeling rather than just painting stuff in jars. dunno if i succeeded, but the idea was to do a melancholy sort of expression. for the woman's body i used a 3d object i'm working on at the moment ...imagine being conscious and being in some sort of tube, unable to do anything about it. that must be the worst kind of hell.

anyways. it's late.
time spent: about an hour 30 mins.

tharmine : exquisite rendering there!
paperslayer : i can't tell what's in that jar, but i like what i'm seeing =)
bkmini : i especially like your first one.

all the best.

Hey Peoples! My phone keeps getting shut off :( , so I've missed some nice ones...
Here're a couple I did. The first one I entirely neglected actually putting it in a jar, but maybe you'll cut me some slack there...

http://homepage.mac.com/forumdump/.Pictures/Specimen%20B%20.jpg

I felt guilty about not putting the above creature in a jar, and so I did this one with at least the suggestion of a jar.

It made me realize I need to study jars.

Everybody did awesome work on this one today, so I'm gonna be lazy and not be particular.
bkmini and miau and !DiNK! - Nice to have you with us! (miau, can't see yours...)

B. Hand- I was thinking of this bottle of soju (kr alcohol drink) with a ginseng root in it when I saw your second one. Makes my stomach queasy all over again, hahaha
