Am I the only one who's sad everytime a fingerprint trails across the page? I got the package the other morning right after shovelling the driveway and kept it safe in my hands until I got to work...where I ever so gracefully pranced around with my yet to be opened box. I took the sharpest blade I could find to that tape strip... slowly opened the box... and GASP... a coworker walks by as Im hugging my MassiveBlack book. I dont think I got a damn thing done that day. I had to restrain myself from going through the book a 97th time...freakin fingerprints. I kinda wanna order a 2nd book just so I can actually go through it without fearing the smudge. It's just too sexy.

Thanks for all the hard work, Ive yet to come through on the new years resolution of actually posting some work here this year... Im workin on it I tell ya, but procrastination is king apparently. :yayca: You guys rock, CA & MB alike.

Mine just arrived during lunch, and at some point I'm gonna have to find it in my heart to put it down so I can finally finish eating. There's only one way I can try and describe it: imagine the singularity that contained the entire universe as we know it before it exploded in the Big Bang and gave life to all that we know today. In much the same way, this book is an equally awe-inspiring singularity of pure inspiration.Definitely more than worth both the wait and the meager remuneration.
Thanks to everyone involved in the creation of this magnificent beast, and to Whit in particular for his sketch (which I will upload sometime tomorrow when I'll have access to my school's proper scanner), and on to volume 2, I say.

Cheers,

Marsty

Hey,

Just received my copy of the book today (all the way to the Netherlands) and I'm totally besides myself. Great stuff, new stuff and extra 'background' on some familiar stuff. Here's my sketch. Can't make out the signature. Anybody willing to take a guess?

Already waiting for Volume 2! Cheers!

Mine arrived today, all the way to the UK!! No tracking info on the order site, so as has been said before don't worry if you haven't had an e-mail or an update, it might just arrive tomorrow!
The box was a bit bashed at the top and almost split but the polystyrene inserts did their job. :)
I've attached a quick scan below. It's been drawn directly on the book itself, and I'm very happy with it. :teeth:
Thanks go to everyone at Massive Black and kotaku for pointing me in the right direction in the first place.

I just got mine today. Still having trouble with my racing heartrate. :D My sketch is almost definately by Jason Chan.... now just let me find a camera and I'll grab a pic of it.

EDIT: Picture is below. Sorry about the crappy snapshot of it. I don't want to break the binding by flattening the book, so it was taken at an angle by a phone. :) I'm thrilled. You guys are some magnificent bastards.

Don't worry about it. I paid for mine on the last day of December 2008, and the book arrived 5 weeks later. It's just taking time to get through them all, the sketches (very good quality, particularly for a 'sketch') add even more time on top of everything else but it'll arrive and is worth the wait. :)

HAHA! Those sketches are saweet!

I was fortunate enough to have each of the staff at MB rub their sweaty ball sacks all over my book before I left the atelier. Sorry, nothing to scan. But the video of the event is great. Coro pulled a batwing over about half the book, quite a sight to behold.

So here I was sitting at my computer checking my email and wasting time before I got ready for work, when my apartment buzzer rings. MY BOOK! I ran down to the door, grabbed it and ran back up. I opened it up to see the sketch and my jaw dropped to the floor.

Thank you Michael Bierek, and everyone else from Massive Black, this was definitely worth the money! (I put the paper on my computer case, which is why the one side is bent downwards)

It's about 5 days ago since I received mine so I thought it's about time to post. I can't remember how many times I went through the book already.. it's just so AWESOME! Same goes for the drawing in my book, anyone know who did it? And it looks as if poor sam brown didn't have any more room for his sig, so his is all alone in the back:P.

Thanks a bunch, dear Massive Black... roosters.

I love the book, my most favourite painting is Coro's oil with some psychedelic monster and junkie below.

I'm looking forward to see more of your I.P... Does it mean that you're working on your very own computer game or why would you spend time with Mothface etc.?

hi MB Team!!

this is my massive black moment. i was coming back from my job. i just went home to drop off my briefcase. i opened my door, kissed and hugged my dog, put down my briefcase and then turned to the dinning room table and i saw a box sitting there. i thought, no shit!, my girlfriend pick up the mail and there is my book. but, damn!, i have to go and renew my driver's license.

i took it with me. so there i am driving and looking at the book in the passenger seat (i don't recommend it to you guys). i got to the stupid office for the license, did everything i had to, and while i was waiting, took out my book from the cover. as i took it out i heard the also sprach zaratustra theme from 2001 odissey. so then i'm leaving the office but i stopped to put the book into the cover and an old man was looking like a "freaking frost" at my book. i looked at him not very friendly, let me tell you, kinda like Charles Manson eyes. i don't know why he stopped looking!! ha ha ha...... when i got back home i was hungry but i thought, oh! c'mon stomach. i ate spaghetti probably breaking the guinness world record for eating(couldn't take the chance of messing up my new very special Massive Black book). my jaw dropped when i saw the print job you did, MB. reading the introduction was very inspirational. the whole book is very good quality, really. i just have to tell you guys, you are so freaking awesome!!!......

my book was there since 1/23/09
you were right it was never tracked

Thanks a lot

Have standard copies of this went out to third-party retailers yet? I ask because I see in on sale on Forbidden Planet's UK online store. I may ask my brother to get me it for my birthday at the end of the month, but see little point if it's going to be a pre-order type situation.

The books are in retail. CGsociety has a list of retailers where you can pick it up. If you can, please buy directly through conceptart as we have a better profit margin enabling us to move forward with Volume 2. Hehehe...and three..and four. We wont put another book out for a while but every little bit helps.

I wanted to know the same thing. But its been so long now that I'm thinking the only way to get it is a pre-order with amazon or look up Ballistic Publishing along with its many partners. I could be wrong. All I know is that its not up on Conceptart.org anymore.
