I'm sure someone here has had experience with this.

I usually draw like at 300dpi at like 5000x5000 pixels or so. Is that enough to print kind of big? Nothing HUGE HUGE, but something to at least put up on the wall.. like a poster.

Second, where can I print a good quality version of it? Any suggestions? Does staples do a decent job?

Thanks.

You sort've answered your own question:

5000 pixels / 300 dots/pixels per inch = 16.6~ inches

You can reduce the DPI a little bit without the artwork suffering much, but never drop it below 150dpi.

As for printing, I'd advise looking around for local printers. Staples will probably do a pretty shoddy job, and I hate kinkos, but the local printers can probably do a pretty good job. And they tend to care a little bit about the final product. That is, they don't mind running off a few extra prints to get the colors right.

Ahhh, that's what I needed to know, the inch size! How did you figure out 16 inches? (from the pizel size, I mean)

1 dot on paper = 1 pixel on screen
Therefore 5000 pixels divided by 300 dots per inch (DPI) = 16.6 inches in that direction. So you with your 5000 by 5000 pixel document would have a print at 16.6 inches by 16.6 inches.

Oh, okay, thanks very much everyone!
