I'm looking for schools in California, not necessarily solely art colleges like Art institution, but something with art classes that is also reputable. I tried full sail but got utterly ripped off, yet I'm not willing to give up, so I'm trying to determine if there are any colleges worth the money in california. Any area is fine, bonus points if I can take some programming classes alongside this, but also not necessary. Does anyone have any reliable information on any colleges out there being worth it? I'd rather not go through that nightmare again...

Thanks for any information in advance!

San Jose University has a good public art program along with UCLA. They are not "art schools" but rather regular universities that have strong art major programs. These programs are up to par with most art schools so I think they deserve to have a look through at. Also they are public schools so they'd cost less then most art schools.

I was looking for a school with an illustration major in California not long ago too, but I had to narrow my search to places close to San Francisco, and found CCA (california college of the arts), it's an art-oriented school accredited by the AICAD located in San Francisco and Oakland, it looks pretty good so far so I'd suggest you take a look at it... I managed to contact several former students and they are pretty happy with the school and what they learned there, it's an art school, it doesn't seem THE top tier school ever, but I'm not looking for that either, and location is a big factor here ... I couldn't find much more art schools with an illustration major around this area, but maybe you're more flexible about the location and/or major. Anyway, just check them out you might like the school!

Hey Canibale, I'm interested in CCA for illustration or fine art and was wondering if it was worth going. What makes it different from other "top tier" schools? What can you say about the faculty?
