my son was born on october 10th, 2003. I should draw him more often. anyhow this is a portrait of him from my sketch book at a month old.

Hey, very good. Babies are hard to draw.
My suggestion on your picture would be to smoothen it out. Not much to comment on though, its a very good portrait.

first i tried playing a guy next to him playing the sax but they don't hold a pose as well as a guitar player.

the second one is my wifes ear not the babies... i told someone on here recently that the ears they drew looked weird to go grab some body and draw their ear, then looking at my dsg's i noticed i needed to follow my own advice! perhaps i should ask some more people if i can draw their ear. that would be interesting. "hey can i draw your ear?"

looking good, I have no valid crits to give probably why you get so little replies :confident
If you want a different execution on the ear you could use a harder pencil so you get thin fine lines and then use a softer pencil and draw the outline of the ear in one single smooth line.
Or you could instead of using harder pencil use the same pencil but draw very lightly and tipping it so you draw more vertical then you get a thinner line too.

yeah i hate soft pencils. i've recently let my left hand take over drawing so my line control is difficult right now. but i like the quality much better. the top 2 posts are with my right hand... the rest with my left
