What is the best way to isolate a face from a background using photoshop? I want to isolate the face from the picture's background on Photoshop. Some of the backgounds are fairly busy, so I'm having trouble getting rid of them.

What for?
Be more specific.
I feel what youre asking for has not much to do with painting, has it?
If not, heres a random google search result on the lasso tool in PS (http://iit.bloomu.edu/vthc/Photoshop/BLENDING/selectiontools.htm) but well...

Oh and btw, this is not an art discussion. => Photoshop section (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78)

Use the Pentool to trace around the face > right click > make selection > copy paste.
