Hey Everyone,
This is my first post here on Conceptart.org and I'm so sorry(to myself) that I havent started sooner. I was hoping to be in time for thunderdome but things weren't working out for me unfortunately. So even though it's about a month late, Heres my would be submission to the Thunderdome challenge!

After a few thousand battles he's had to make some repairs and adjustments to his body. Each one more effective and efficient that the last. His Scithe can be charged with energy to make exponentionaly more powerful. The future of death!

Really nice work. While I liked the animation at first, I quickly found it to be distracting. Perhaps just with a steady glow (ie- not animated...)?

Just my two cents.

Yeah, I think so too. I acually decide to do this because I wasn't sure weather to leave it glowing or not. m I just had fun with it.

I agree with Patch, nice work, but the animation is distracting where it is. Like Patch says, just a steady glow or maybe bringing it out behind your character more. So he's outlined in it. That way your eyes stay on the character instead of moving off to the scythe.

NICE WORK! love the animation myself!..it is distracting...but for me its in a good way, I was always thinking "man it would be real cool to hide a small animation within a pic that I spent along time on".. like an oh say...an ORC like the cool one mitch did, but every now and then it blinks, and if its kinda hidden it would make it less distracting and make the creature more life like to the person who sees it, the ideas are endless.. nice to see it here in action

what program did you use to animate it ? image ready?

Nice work. I like how the glow defines the bevel of the blade. I would give it a subtle glow maybe, in between, just my suggestion. I would definitely scrap the animation, it just makes it look like he is signalling for a turn.

lol, couldnt stop laughing after reading Flints' replay :D

Anyways, I think its a very accomplished painting. And the animation is kinda cool too. It's something you rarely see in a painted style like this.

Okay, I got the Idea. It does look like he wants to turn left. I just though it would be cool(sniff). Anyhow, thanks for the crit, I'm glad you guys liked it. I may or may not make the changes, but I'll probly just do more things and leave that one. Tha animation is done in Image Ready. The Pshop file is nice and huge but What I don't know is if I were to keep a still, should his scithe be on or off?

Wow that is pretty neat, rather unique I think. I kind of like the animation, but it really does distract you from the character. Maybe you should try not turning it to straight black, give it a idle glow and have it ramp up and back down from there.

Fantastic character design. This guy is brutal! Great job.

My only crit is the animation, though. Personally, I find it a little gimmicky within the context of concept art. Although, done well, I have this awful vision of other artist's submitting artwork with pulsating eyes, bone-shattering projectiles, etc.

You already know what I think! You need to work on the BG BG BG BG!:bash:

If it were me, I would freeze it at a slight glow because I like the second light source defining the form of his armor as well as the showing the bevel of the blade. Then I would follow Lil QoH's advice and work on the BG.:)

I like this guy. He looks like one mean SOB.
