Let's just get it the hell over with and turn the entirety of the 1980's into its own movie.

Uh, I wasn't aware that Karate Kid was a movie that needed remaking. It was a classic in and of itself. Any remake will only seem cheap and crappy by comparison. And of course Will Smith casts his son in the lead role. It's nice to see that nepitism is alive and well. Seriously, how long before Will Smith announces DJ Jazzy Miyagi?

You know, they would stop with these remakes if people stopped going to see them (even just to see 'how bad' they are).

It's not going to change the original film, so why bitch n' moan?

because it's cheap, low-class, and laughably transparent.

Milking it for money. Come up with something new for once, Hollywood.

Just like the first one, if it's not about a teenage superhero from the future (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karate_Kid_%28comics%29) I have no interest in it.

Sometimes, watching stupid films makes me feel smart. Oops. That's perhaps the only good thing about bad films.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this!! And the Nightmare on Elm Street "redux", IT, maybe The Birds will be good...uh, Clash of the Titans?
I think Jake Gyllenhaal will be okay as The Prince of Persia and I'm looking forward to Paul W. S. Anderson's Castlevania in 2011.

Clash of the Titans actually looks like it might not be too terrible. Laurence Kasdan, the guy who wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark, is handling the script, so I have hope for it.
Nightmare on Elm Street is probably going to be terrible, but I'm curious to see how Jackie Earle Harvey plays Freddy.

I heard that Pat Moritta from the original Karate Kid was in the independent parody film 18 Fingers of Death. So why not rent that instead?

And to think, it's no longer karate, but kung fu. My SO and I saw the trailer; he of Japanese decent, me of Chinese. We couldn't help but laugh.
Jackie Chan and it's set in China. Hollywood doesn't get it.

That trailer is like a collection of movie cliches and social stereotypes.

the only way i can see this being somewhere near salvageable is if jackie goes all drunken fist on the other kid's sensei... as for the rest of it, it makes the fast and the furious seem like worthy of an oscar
