I happen to like the description of the road to hell in the book "Good Omens." It goes...

And the road to hell is not paved with good intentions as most people say. Instead its paved with the frozen bodies of door to door salesmen, which the younger demons go skating on every now and then.

Sincerely,
Chris

Tharmine - I would love to know how you did the tile. The whole piece has great color too! Reminds me of Silent Hill 2.
Here's a quicky while I was waiting for eggrolls. Yum.

TheAvatar. I think it looks great. The atmosphere and colour in your piece makes me sweat just looking at it! Definatly go back over and fill in the details on your hell guardian guy but I ORDER you to leave the rest its ace!

Matt Dixon. Look like the gate to hell is right down the throat of Satan himself! Love the style and the colour.

Enddriver. Watch your step when you go to the Nevada Dessert! Looks like the doors to hell are open.:p

Roger. You havnt ever been to Swansea city have you? Theres a few clubs that look remarkably similar! Its damn freaky.

Jeabus. Great work on the detail of the building, I can just imagine the cold dusty creepy interior.

Plaf. I always new Santa was guarding the gates of hell! Thats what satans never hungry! Santa keeps bringing him the worlds milk and cookies every year.:p

POX. Sooo reminds me of the entrants of the Labyrinth. Just expect David Bowie to be checking names of the list as you enter.

ODD. You dont need any comments you know youve got it lol.

Madgirrafe. ROLF, carnivals and circuses are so creepy im surprised your the only one who had that take on it.

Charge. Freaky! Just freaky. In an extreme Dali way.

AWalloffire. That must be hell for Picasso! "You will spend eternity in a world that brought the world so much joy!" MUAHAHHAHA

Vimmzy. lol! Thats one hot elevator ride!

Tharmine. JAY AND SILENT BOB!

Carnifex. Love the lighting!

the gates of hell are not a 1 way street. sin, hate, war and spilled blood come out of it.
(2 am. painting like a mindless chimp, id be glad to refine it some more. not now. ive been painting instead of drawing. feels great)

A good excuse as any to do a glowing volcano.

Vimmzy: I was going to do something similar, but then I saw yours and thought you pretty much nailed It.
The idea I had was a hell gate that moved regularly and replaced a ordinary doorway anywhere in the world, mimicking It perfectly.

Tharmine: That's how I imagine a gate to hell. Cramped, smelly and always open. :)

i have this really cool humerous idea but don't have the skills to do it quickly, maybe i'll do it as a longer piece, but then again i probably will say to hard bugger it.

These are so much fun to look at, seeing the various versions of hell's gate (egads! the circus .... oO).
nBT - That's kinda cool, feeling what it is through the colors and stuff.
I'm curious to what media oDD used (digital or traditional?); AshenWraith: love the detail and lighting.

Well i tried to do make something a little different... just had an idea and ran with it. All done in painter, which i've only been working with a couple weeks. This is my first attempt at using color, and i kind of like it.

I come from a heavy drawing background with little instruction on color, so any advice or criticism is welcome. I would specificly like information on what brushes to use to really make the texture pop.

DraigAthar: LMFAO

OLSEN: i so love grays :)

AshenWraith: i feel like i'm right there. I personly would have liked it more without the demon... but that's just me.

Matt Dixon: it is what i think a poped zit looks like up close... probably hell for some people.

theAvatar: i'm not sure i'm the best to hand out advice, but i'll give a go at it. I think it would really improve if you went in with a small hard dark or light tool and defined the wings and the texture of the wings. Also if you out lined or distiguished a couple of the flames on the head more then the others, to make it pop, which in turn should make it more readable as a head.

PoX: is that poor guy the only one going to hell? I see that others seem to have a less optimistic view of the human race :firedevil

oDD: NICE!

Mad Giraffe: for some reason i keep thinking of the Michel Jackson case going on.... don't ask me why.

charge: poor dog :(

tharmine: cool shit :) all it needs now is a shit deamon to go with it.:barfing:

thanks everyone. Lots of great work. Someone asked : all my stuff is done in photoshop (sometimes i make a quick sketch in pencil and scan it and work in ps from there but this time i made a quick sketch in ps as well)

theAvatar: forget about detail, work more on shape, egz: make that creature have more defined legs, now they look more like cylinders.
