Hi everybody,
This post is in response to inquiries from artists wanting to take their concept art, illustration and fine art skills in a different direction, specifically into visual effects for film and television. Just about every movie you see these days has some element of photo-realistic or obvious visual effects involved.
There's always a fun debate about "art" vs. "technical" skills necessary for this industry, and of course both are required. There are jobs within visual effects that are pure art - matte painting, creature design and so on, and there are more technical jobs as well including dynamics and rigging, to name a few.
I know that all of you artists reading this have computer skills! If you think you'd like to apply your fine art training skills to a digital art career, drop us a line or have a look through our website.
If you want to post to this thread any questions about the industry in general, we'd be happy to help.
Cheers,
Gillian
