So here's something I've been thinking about while I've been in school so far...

What would you all say the pros and cons would be of majoring in either Illustration or Fine Art Painting?

I think you should major in the use of the search-function. Just using the term fine-arts already brings you several threads on the first page.

I did use the search function and I was not able to find a thread that specifically compared the pros and cons of a background in Illustration versus a background in fine arts.

Is it really such a bad thing to create a thread that would centralize such information should someone else in addition to me need it as well?

If you can point me in the direction of such a thread that I may have missed then by all means do so and this thread will fade off into the depths of the forum, but if you can not please refrain from a snarky comment that simply boils down to "lolz use the search mor."

Thanks for your time, and I hope to get some interesting opinions on this subject.

Wouldnt you be a lil picky?
Read this thread (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=119848) already?
Actually me too im clueless about the search function but i search the forums with google (http://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&q=concept+art.org+illustration+vs+fine+arts&meta=)...
it works just fine, well most o'the time...

I totally depends on the school and department. In general you'll get more training in traditional representational art in an illustration program than a fine arts one.
