Wouldn't it be interesting for everyone to contribute with their own nuggets of wisdom of what makes a location concept a great location concept ? ( basically I am talking computer games).
For instance, is it better to use dramatic angles to empahsiste the mood, or a simple eye level to be more descriptive. Or even isometric perspective and go all the way into detail ? Should be detail evenly distributed in the location?
Is it politically correct to use , let's say a photo of a city, and then paint over your fantasy setting, but having the photo as a generic perspective guide in the back? What are the most helpful studies that would aid the location concept artist ?

It would be interesting to hear a bunch of different opinions .. many would benefit from such a discussion.. myself included ;).
If it has been done before, please forgive me :).

My bit on it: dramatic angles ( preferrably from the player's POV) are better, but also a generic shot in an "overview" type angle should be done to complement all the dramatic shots. Also I belive it is mandatory to put that accent, that "something" that would grab the viewer by the arm and scream in its ear: "See?! It's so cool/scary/pleasant there!"

I'm just a student so I'm not that experienced but...

I'm doing a bunch of location concepts for a theme park right now, as a school project.

What I think is important is that not to get carried away by doing dramatic angles. Sure use a frogeyeview (is that the english word for or maybe just swenglish?) for showing something that is really high and a birdseyeview for something you need a good overview for. Another important thing is that the perspective is well executed, the elpises should be in the right angle and stuff like that. A good concepts can really fall apart if the perpective is off...
