sayan?

Hi there

I recently listened to a song called "T&C" by "thrice" which is a great song (interesting story so far, isn't it?). The only problem is, that i don't get a part of the lyrics. They sing:

"For like a sayan i wont grow
unless i'm battered in the fray"

I get the meaning of the sentence but what the heck is a "sayan"?

Sayan: Dragonball Z race of fighters (comic/anime)

I searched the wikipedia.org (http://www.wikipedia.org) for the dragonball Z thing and found out that the race is actually named sayian. Well not that different but is there no other meaning for sayan?

It would kind of destroy my feelings for this song if the term "sayan" comes from an anime which i don't like too much (animes in general)... ;)

It is a reference to the say(i)an fighter class. They even included a dbX quote at the beginning of the song in an earlier version...

@accidents_happen: sure i did! I've got them all... But i like IOS and IC more than the new record, though its still better than most hc/punk/emo sound i know. thrice rocks. The music is great but the lyrics are even better. Gotta love 'em. :)
