How Can I Relocate Memory In Mac Os X

I need to paint a really huge poster for plotter print, some kind of magnetic board for kids with a sea ecosystem.

It's dimensions are 1'20x5 meters. I wanted to do it in painter but it doesn't seem to let me do it.

My comp can handle the same image in PS7 but in painter I can't create anything bigger than 1'20x250 at 150 ppi.

Does it have something to do with RAM assigned to the app??
I've memory to assign but don't know how.

I'm in a hurry so I'd love a quick answer from you the experts here.

Someone else over at CGTalk asked about maximum sizes in Painter and here's my response:

Hi,

I don't know of anything you can do about this as I've heard there's an image size limit of around 54 inches (at 300 ppi) in Painter.

Testing it today, I was able to get the image up to (it wouldn't take 16383 pixels):

16382 pixels at 300 ppi (or 54.607 inches at 300 ppi)

Just to show the range of inches, though you probably would not work at 72 ppi:

16382 pixels at 72 ppi (or 227.528 inches at 72 ppi)

For a confirmation that this is the case and to suggest changing the situation in Painter 9 (if that's possible), you might want to write to Corel Painter Program Manager Rick Champagne at:

In the meantime, you might be able to work smaller, then Resize upward in Photoshop for the final version.

Others have said they get good results using either Fred Miranda's Stair Interpoltion (SI) actions (not expensive) or Genuine Fractals (expensive).

Yeah, it's definitely a Painter issue, not OSX. X takes care of all memory management automatically, which is why you couldn't figure out how to assign more.

I was trying the same thing, and got the same results in dimensions.

Well, maybe I'll have to sacrifice a little resolution for the job.
