..you need to get your sketch right before you color it! it's always tempting to start coloring before you really know what you're gonna do. i'd say delete the green background and go back to working with your sketch - it's not finished yet! decide what you want for background and sketch it, then start coloring.. coloring won't make your pic complete - it will only give it color... oh yeah! :)

(note: if you just want to learn Painter then don't even bother to use a sketch - just play around! you can make a mockup sketch in painter and color that..)

It would help to know what your idea is or what you're trying to do here. Like, is that a veil around her head and what are the lines around her legs? To do a background you have to have some idea of where you're going with it. Have a story or picture in your head of what the end product will be like. It's the best I can do for you right now, and I've come back to this picture several times.

Itīs a very good first attempts Iīd think even tho Iīve never come close to those programs you people use (except photoshop). The only things I can crit is that the tattoo on her stomach isnt conforming with her contours. That is, it looks like itīs floating above her stummy, well. that and the eyes are a bit blurry.. Reminds me alot of a picture done with spraypaint on a wall..

but itīs a good first try :)

Hey killer!
I went to Justin Sweets painting demo a couple of weeks ago and he rocks. The way he painted was crazy. He painted most of the time in fit to screen I would say that about 90 to 85 percent of the time and he never really zoomed in just changed brush sizes. It would benefit you greatly to see someone paint in painter. I have also seen Feng Zhu paint and the also kicks azz.
