Sergei Bodrov's film about the Great Khan just came out on video.
Its pretty badass if you haven't seen it yet.

I saw it a while ago. Really awesome movie indeed. Had its funny moments, the action scenes were amazing. I hope the sequels will come and soon enough. Then they can go more in depth on how he developed to Khan.

Yes this film was the shizzznets, really enjoyed the cinematography, the portrayal of the harsh conditions on the steppe. I was lucky enough to catch this on the big screen months back. I hope the next two films happen to complete the trilogy. Beautiful film, will add to the collection.

I really enjoyed this as well. The trailers painted a very different film. I was pleasantly surprised. I do look forward to seeing the next installments for when he gets really brutal. It will be interesting to see how that plays out with this fist one showing a man that I never really envisioned in reading of his conquests.

So freaking good. I'm such a nerd for this period, I'm actually getting my BA in Song Dynasty history in a few weeks. I'm doing a graphic novel on the Mongol invasion (sorta) to graduate, so seeing the Tangut empire, costumes, and the steppe on the big screen was a real inspiration.
Not to mention, total nerd-gasm.
I didn't even mind that it was like... 16 hours long.
