skin tones and metal parts looks great. The other colors looks quite muddy unfortunatelly but overall it's a good character design.

the angel is great, but the wings don't feel part of the angel and they're not rendered enough. they sort of look like part of a tree in the background.
also, the composition is a bit too flat. this could be fixed by making her point towards the viewer, instead of to the right.

great painting anyway. like the elf.

what i really like is the girl next to the angel. is this from life? i love the clean, crisp nature of it.

Very very nice start of your new SB man! The demon/dryad girl, the studies and the knight in post #19 are the best. Keep 'em coming man!

If you've time please check out my sketchbook and give me some critic/tips/anything. :)

EDIT: Is that the caterpillar from Alice in wonderland? I love that piece, great expression. Now finish it! :D ;)

The head and figure drawings are from ref, the coloured idiot is me :)

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. The pieces I really like in here are the first winged girl and the Ti'phar chow entry. Would be cool to see you explore more of those black n white works like in your last post, looks really good.

Thanks for the comments :)

Cheers, Dekal. I really didn't think anyone would remember me to be honest :)

Imageenation - not as much these days :(

Cam - I'll probably do more of those black and white images, I still can't really get my head around colour.

Here's some more stuff.

the first one is the last Chow character
Then some wips on the latest Chow, Frankenstein being my theme.
Some Mech wip and more head from ref and imagination.

cheers.

I always love seeing how people build up their finished pieces from greyscale. Your roughs have a lot of personality, and I can tell that you've got a strong handle on color and values.

The only thing I can suggest is maybe pushing some of your textures a little more to differentiate them from each other. Your metals are great, but it's hard to "feel" the material on some of the rougher things. Other than that, fantastic great work. :)

Thanks for the comments :)

I've included some recent complete and incomplete CHOW efforts. The KFC one I'm part way through colouring at the moment.

The head studies are from ref once again, but I've taken some liberties with the proportions just for fun.

I think I'm going to have a go at doing a duck mech next :)

cheers.

Thanks for looking :)

Lateman - I agree :) the KFC is just there as a temporary image, until I think of something else.

Some more stuff. I decided to do a head study of myself, then decided to add the body. I'm not actually that buff :) I refrenced the head but made up the body :)

Decided to also do some hand studies from a loomis book. Hands and feet are my enemy. Usually I will run and cower when an expressive hand needs to be drawn, so I have decided to start combating this :)

Also a robot duck for no reason :)

cheers.

Some really cool concepts you have here, but I fear you are realying a bit too much on your pouch of tricks to pull them up. Designs in particular should have some explanatory logic to them, and though for example the duck looks really cool "^^", I just don't see what those blue rings would be for. Apart from that though, keep rocking; the KFC knight alone is worth a HUZZAH!

that kangarobot ruuuules.

kind of obvious, i guess, but don't forget to consider your value range carefully when working from your head. you nail the values in your studies, but your concepts sometimes compress the range in an undesirable manner. i do the same thing, so lately i've been periodically stamping visible layers, using curves to push the range and darken/lighten it and then erase out highlights/shadows. just little tricks to keep myself mindful.

anyway. great work and tons of progress. keep it up!
