View Full Version : Problem: Can’t paint over new areas on my old layers

So I’ve been plugging away at this image 531823
and I’ve hit a big snag but maybe I hit some weird setting while fooling with the program
anyways the issue is I can’t paint on the white/never painted on parts of the layers any more (the canvas works fine) so if I try and add larger fins to that dragons head I can’t. It seams I can only paint on the parts already painted on in that layer or previously painted and erased.
Heres an example531854
This all seemed to happen after I added a few extra inches to the width and high of the canvas and moved layers around the new space, but maybe I hit some setting before that?
Anyone have a simple solution or an overly complex mathematical one that way over my head? :p

could be one of two things:
1. you accidentally hit the preserve transparncy button in the layers panel (even if its not ticked, tick it and untick it again cause sometimes it gets stuck)
2. if you add space to the canvas it wont add to layers until you reopen the image. so save it and open it afresh.

You probably didn't do it. It's a known bug that makes it appear Preserve Transparency is not enabled when it actually is.
Solution:
Click in the Preserve Transparency box until a check mark appears. Then click one more time to remove the check mark and disable Preserve Transparency.
Always do this before working with Layers, each time you open the image, as the bug presents itself intermittently and applying the solution up front will save you time and frustration.
Happy Holidays!

RATTSANG:
Thank You! (And MR roche for asking in the first place.) I was having a similar problem where I was creating a layer from scratch and could not get anytging to show up. Geez, what a major-league bug! All is good again. (Surprised that I've never encountered that before...)
Thanx again guys!
