We are looking for an experienced artist for environment and prop concept work for an immediate on location contract. Must be able to take direction well and follow an established art style from day one. Must be available to work on location through the months of December and January. Please do not respond unless you have a portfolio with applicable materials and can meet our needs for working on location through January in Ventura, CA (about 1/2 way between LA and Santa Barbara).
Main Responsibilities:
• Create original concept art for the world, environments and other assets that will help the modeling/texture team and help set the tone, look and feel of our game.
• Effectively collaborate with other artists to define the architectural and level design, props, and broader environmental aesthetic of the game.
• Work with the Art Director, Lead Concept Artist, and Game Designer to take creative direction as well as reinforce the execution of the game's aesthetic.
• Deliver work on time and according to schedule as prepared by the Producer
Qualifications:
• A portfolio that demonstrates excellent concepting skills and range of style
• Speed painting and fast thumbnail generation a must
• Traditional art skills with emphasis on architectural and environmental design.
• Strong understanding of lighting, composition, color theory, atmosphere, materials and textures.
• Must be able to work within an established art style
• Solid familiarity with Photoshop
• Possess exemplary communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to follow direction
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, to meet deadlines and to excel under production conditions.
• Strong work ethic, self-direction and artistic vision, dedicated work ethic.
• Have a genuine enthusiasm and interest in video games.
Preferred Extra:
• Previous experience in the gaming field or similar industry
• Previous experience with environmental concept work
• Local candidates a plus
