Zoki that rocks! I love the way he looks down on the earth with contempt in his eyes. Very noble and forboding.

Heres some viking reference, i dug it up for a pic MGH had posted in another part of the forum, but i suppose it fits just aswell with today topic..

The text is in swedish, so it can be a bit tricky for you english speakers, but the pictures are great so it shouldnt matter. When you get to the pages, just click the white text on the main image to get some more detailed pics. Some of the images is also clickable to get larger images.

cool topic - i love nordic lore. the old nordic religion was actually recognized by the danish state recently.. how cool is that? :)

just a quick sketch today, if i have some more time i might do something a bit more organized laters.

zoki : like yours. if i was a viking, that's what i'd look like with my reddish hair. wohey! :)

Hazzard - Nice pose!

Awallofire - :D

oDD - Lovely. You've really got the light reflecting nicely of that snow. Reminds me of Frazetta, too - I think it's your viking's stance. And the deathdealer hat. ;)

I had three hours to kill today, so invested a lot more time than I usually do.

Initially, I had a helmet on the guy, but I thought what dork would sit in a chair with a helmet on all the time? So, I removed it. Unfortunately, after completing it, I realized that without the helmet he looks a little dwarfish. If I have time I might add a helmet and sword next to the chair or something to the affect. Or maybe, after the thread, I will simply change the title to 'dwarf overlord'.

my second post and i am still in awe of the work everyone posts.

This one was sketched in non-photo blue then inked with a brush pen. Took almost exsactly 2 hours. Then i did a little touch up work in photoshop. I'll grayscale it if i get around to it.

For now i'm just going to have to link to a page :(

Please critique me on my inking job, i'm still trying to get a feel for the brush pen and any suggestions will be appreciated. :)

Yeah, these are pretty neat today, but I gotta give props to MGH - nice one today.. I like the mood of it!

Here's my pencil... got a little carried away with the detail, so I decided against coloring it.

Devilchild1017 - you should post your image. We're all here to get better...

littlemac - I like it - he looks like he should hang with Hagar the Horrible...

RefrigeratorCo - I want to sit and listen to the tales he tells of the battlefield.

danielh68 - I don't know- I think that you're alright re: the helmet issue. His arms and legs are too long to be a dwarf really (and I agree that sitting in a helmet would be kinda goofy)

theAvatar - thanks! Please don't take offense to this, but I noticed something kinda neat about your image: because of the minimal tonality to it (3 tones) it kinda looks like it could be Mt. Viking-more... I like it.

Matt Dixon - nice image. love the mood that the colors seem to set

oDD - I noticed the 'frazetta feel' too. I think you win for my fav. of the day.

awalloffire - I laighed my butt off when I saw yours. were you perhaps a fan of the Thor comics?

zoki - nice work - very solid and has a very real feel to it. looks like some of the guys I ride with... (except he doesn't have a mug of ale in his hand) *grins*

MrKayne - I like the way that you shaded it and I love the fact that you actually had him interact with something/someone (it's something I avoid waaaay too much)

My guy ended up looking more like a big dwarf to me, mustbe those big-ass feet, and the oversized axe that makes him look small. Hmmmmmm.

So many great posts today! A few new folks about too. I don't feel so alone in my noobness.

Olsen - I'm curious about the meaning of 'MJOOOD'

Patch - Yes, I actually (lowers voice to a whisper) copied the Thor logo from an old copy Vol. 1,#384,Oct. 1987. The 8-sided die was sadly drawn from memory. This is actually a self-portrait. Hope I die soon. :nerd: :chainsaw:

awalloffire - You're not alone bro. While Spidey was always my fav, I still have some 8-siders around. Along with some 20 siders and...

"Hi. My name is Patch, and I role-play."

OLSEN - Actually - that's perfect for this subject. I was once told that I looked like a viking. At the time I had my red hair all the way down to my waist, and I had a pitcher of lager in each hand which I was using to double fisted drink.

"Hi. My name is Patch and I like my lager."

Ok, i skipped the past couple DSG's due to an excess of drinking this past weekend  , so i figured i better not pass this cool topic up. So i whipped up this little tidbit. I too went with an Odin theme (I've actually been working lately on a look and style for the big-O for a print I plan on doing.) Here he is:

http://artgeek5000.com/sketch/dsg/270.jpg

Its interesting to think that Odin is not only the boss of the Norse gods and god of battle and stuff, but he's also the god of poetry and the inventor of language...ya know both a scholar and a jock...

Darunia - Nice work on getting that staring gaze to read it'd be interesting to get something else from the eyes maybe.

RickHudson - I really like the sketch! maybe he wouldnt' look so small if you showed his size relationship with something we're familiar with? possibly another figure?

Charge - Nice job on the overdork. lol I love the theme!

Artgeek5000- Great detail.

Charge- Nice with the fawning ladies at the almighty geek-vikings feet.....

Sage_Commander- Welcome! very nice start to the coloring, would like to see more.

MrKayne- wowzers man! Dun touch it.. dun color it... dont breathe on it wrong... its crisp, clean and superb the way it is.

Patch- Love the colors added to it... I am impressed. I like how you used the bold deep colors for him.
