(Oh geez, I hope I'm doing this right)
Hey everyone!
A little bit about me: I am currently attending college and working towards a degree in Genetics, but art has always been a career path I've wanted to pursue. I get a lot of my inspiration from trashy romance novels and video games-- my favorites being Parasite Eve and...uh...NiGHTS (Spin! Paraloop! Paraloop! Spin!).
Things I hope to improve on:
1) Environments (interior and exterior)
2) Mechanical subjects
3) Color and value - namely pulling away from depending too much on layer blending modes to do the work for me
4) Everything else under the sun

These were all done on 3x5" index cards, hence the identical aspect ratios.

FourTonMantis: Thanks! That tree can really work the dance floor.
nana_iro_miso: Thank you! I'll try to post sketches here and there (bad and decent ones) whenever I get the chance.

Quick, 5-minute doodle on ArtRage 2. I really miss life drawing sessions. :(

Final exams are coming up; I really should have started this sketchbook next week. :(
Another index card sketch in the meantime:

I totally messed up on his face.
Mandrake roots have quite a storied history--but their claim to fame is probably the myth that they will emit a terrible scream when uprooted. The kicker was that hearing it would kill you/make you go crazy.
Thankfully, medieval herbalists developed a rather detailed protocol that involved a dog, a rope, and probably a lot of coaxing and dog biscuits. I think Harry Potter just used earmuffs, but he was also only handling baby mandrakes. Pansy.

Great potencial in here and remember that only self motivation and urge to improving your weakness is the key. Now you are in this forum (which is the first good way to your goal) just keep working and everything will come by itself... Take care.

Classwork owned me. No time to work on anything substantial, but I can't let this thread die so young!

Small sketchbooks as lose sometimes. Handy for sneaking in doodles here and there, but bad for getting carried away on.

RAGNAROK Online warlock class design. Only the sprites have been released, so a bunch of artists in the RO community have been coming up with concepts based on tiny, pixeled sprites.

Quick concept sketch. Trying to establish lighting, but I think I got carried away on some of the values and not going far enough on others. I do plan on finishing this up later down the line, once it's cooled off (no pun intended).

30 minute figure (body part?) study. Grayscale photo ref.

Figures from imagination. The guy's head isn't very well attached. :( The face might have been a little inspired by Michael Jackson., I really can't say.
