I am in the process of forming a team to develop a game. This is a non-paying hobby for me and for all involved. But I am approaching it as a serious endeavor. I feel this would be a fun place to get some experience doing some 2d artwork and working in a small team in game development. But that is my opinion.

The project itself is a game that will be designed using the OpenBor game engine. This is a specific game engine built around 2d “beat-em-up” games. Games in this genre include Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, The Simpsons, X-Men the arcade game to name a few. OpenBor is an engine specifically designed for creating games of this nature.

The actual content of the game is still in development. Currently, I have one writer on board along with another programmer in addition to myself. I am currently working with the writer to come up with some ideas of what we want to do. It will most likely be something in the Super Hero genre as it has always been one of my favorites. I have no experience in OpenBor, but I didn’t have any in Torque when I started using that either. I am always one who tries to learn new things. But I want to make my experience or inexperience in this case clear.

I personally have little experience in game development. However, I am finishing my Masters in Software Engineering this week and my final project is a game built on the Torque Game engine. I was able to do the programmer there, nothing fancy and the artwork used was stuff from the internet. But I have plenty of work experience in business development applications, and there are some specific design techniques that will be used in developing this game.

As I said I am looking for an artist(s) who will work on concept art, 2d sprite based animations, and 2d backgrounds and environments. As little or as much experience as you have I will take. But this will be run as a professional game development project. I personally may have ambitions of doing this for real someday who knows, but at a minimum I enjoy doing this as a hobby and would love to work with some artists to make this as great of a game as we can make. You have to start somewhere.

If after saying all that I am just on the wrong forums or have no interest here, if anyone knows of a better place to post please let me know. I did try a feeler post at GameArtisans but only got like 20 views with no response. But I only posted a few sentences to see if I was in the right place.
Thanks for taking the time to read.

If you'll consider someone with no experience at all (but with a love for superheroes), I'd love to know more about what you're planning.

I recommend you to build up something using stuff from the internet, there are many sites that have sprites from 2D games that you could use, when you have managed to pull something together then it will be easier to take you seriously.
