I can't answer your question but i would suggest not choosing the portfolio with endless small rings!

Uh, either you go to a portfolio day with your large drawings in a carry portfolio or you take pictures of the pieces for slides, a DVD/CD presentation or a SMALL printed portfolio.
I've never seen a portfolio with acrylic sleeves that large...it's not usually good for the art (causes smearing).

here's the solution for the "CHEAP"...
don't get cheap get good... and if you can't afford good, sell one of thse 18x24 drawings, if one can't be sold, they need to be covered in plastic sheets... yet.
there's the smartass answer anyway, but really, try to sell one you can always make more right?

This might not be the best short term solution but in the long run, it might be the best option. Shoot a good digital photograph of it and compile a digital portfolio of your work. You're going to have to archive that piece sooner or later anyway. Personally I don't exactly need to see the original piece of work at Portfolio Days at all. It's always a risk transporting original art- all it takes is one minor gaffe and that's the end of it.
I'm all for shooting things digitally, presenting it on a laptop or showing it in a small portfolio. It's safer and much more convenient for the presenter and the viewer.
