Hey guys,

Having been fortunate enough of having the Marama workshop in my backyard and seeing all the talent there, Ive decided its finally time to get serious about my 2D work.

I hope to keep this thread updated with my latest stuff, and by creating said thread Ill have an obligation to keep producing more work to show and hopefully not disappoint :P

My 2D skills are so rusty that it is probably best for me to forget any past knowledge of 2D and start from the basics again :D.

Anyways, Heres some of my previous 3D Sculpts that I oh so much enjoy doing...

Thanks guys, Ive probably set myself up for failure here, as my 2D work isnt anywhere close to my 3D stuff (which still has a long way to go).

Hybrid_75: Thanks man, it was actually your sketch book which helped me start mine. Before that I didnt know if 3D was allowed in the Sketchbook's lol.

Really! shit man to be honest i never really knew either, fuck I'll throw anything I do on. Even photo's of my cat "helping" me draw. I think people should think of these things as visual development books. the word sketch is a bit limiting. man there are so many people I shoulda met up with at the workshop it's stupid.

wow really nice work here and btw you can sketch with everything, it is a
quick study/warm-up/imagine training artwork that doesn't need
the "finally finishing" touch, so throw in everything you got and
also the 2d and if your lucky you might receive a pro message
advice from some one and that the wonderful thing with this forum^^
keep the creation spirit going;) cheers!

wow that's a great display of anatomical knowledge, those hands and animals
look awesome. Almost reminds me of zack petrocs work. You making your
starting meshes in an external program? I'd love to see more full characters too,
that one you've posted is very cool.

Absolutely beautiful sculpts! I'm envious. And don't worry about the 2d stuff at all (feeling that it's rusty), just post it and I have no doubt that you'll get some great comments to put you on the track you want to be on :)

Majestic! Are you using Zbrush for these? Can't wait to see more 3d & 2d from you.

gorgeous work, that cougar/deer sculpt blows my mind.
Hey don't worry about your 2d stuff, from my experience I've always found that alot of skills cross over anyhoo.
The fact that all of these beauties came outta your head means you already have alot of the knowledge to render similar things in 2d, it's just about teaching your hand to work with 2d mediums again.
Good luck man, I can see this turning into a wicked SB :}

Hey guys

Thanks for all the kind words, they keep me motivated and wanting to create more work to show you all

Its typical that as soon as I start a SB I become busy with things away from the computer :P.

Anyways..heres a quick (it wasn't really, took me around 4hours todo :< ) color study done, just to get me working with colors again. Ref from a model posing at the Marama workshop

hey great start to the sketchbook, i have never really though that 3d work could be so mesmerizing, i do a lot my self but mainly for video game mods.
I really need to pick up Zbrush or mudbox this really looks beautiful.
good start on the 2d work it has great values and the color seems to be spot on.
i think either the nose or mouth is ever so slightly off but other than that the anatomy is perfect keep up the great work :)

Thanks Bagg, theirs definitely some funky areas which could of used more time on :)

To answer a few questions, I use zbrush for all my sculpts and I normally import a low res Base mesh to start from. Heres 2 of the sculpts at their lowest Level of detail, Pretty basic really :P

wooww, really cool stuff, you get the blocky style first and the you round the edges right? what software do you use? zbrush is like drawing and then tearing shapes out from them lines right?

Oh wow, already been over a week since ive posted anything :S I haven't done to much work lately, im sorta spending the time from now untill new years looking into the areas I want to improve in, and finding out what is needed for improvement.

I keep finding out I have barely scratched the surface in many areas, which is a little demotivating when theirs still so much more to learn :P.

Anyways, Here is 3 more quick pieces i have done. The Foot was done as a study, which I soon found out feet are one of the trickiest parts of the body todo, and I soon gave up after a few hours. The head was a quick ~1hour sculpt, no ref or anything (It shows) And the 2D piece was a quick value study based off a photo. Im not to happy with any of them, but at least they are something :)
