Hey, anyone know the going rate [yearly income] for a fulltime concept artist in CA in movies/games for a seasoned guy?

there is no such thing as a going rate. it depends on budgets...experience...and talent.
figure out how much you need to do the job and ask for that....always ask for twenty percent more than what you want. if they say no then you can bargain back down to what you want.

Thanks man, Im just not really sure if i want to make the leap into moving from job to job, wonderin where the next check is gonna come from. How much it would take me to make that kind of move, uprooting my family and all.
I heard that 20% thing before though, sounds like a good rule...thanks again....

Haha I can imagine the employers saying "Concept artist always ask for 20% than they want, so bargain them down to that."

So, do most artists have full time jobs, or do they pick up "gigs" like musical bands do? Or do they have gigs and then have another job?
