Well, lets hope this web hosting works.
This is my first post here, so im hoping to get some good feedback (as we all are ;) )
I want to get into the concept art field, and am trying to unlearn alot of my habits that came from wanting to draw comics. As you can see, my style is highly influenced by comics, and im trying to go tword a more realistic approach...its hard to unlearn a lifetime of drawing a certain way :bash: but im trying!!
I plan on attending art school within a year, Ill be moving down to Cali to attend school there. No art schools up here in Alaska :(

Ok, nuff babblin...on to the pics.
Comments and crits MORE than welcome of course! :D

This is a Jedi character i designed, it was slightly influenced by "Knights of the Old Republic" game for X-Box..mostly the mask.

These next few were characters i designed for some sequential pages..that i have yet to do
Rather basic asian designs, but i had fun with them :)

A little explanation for the simplicity of the pics: they were left pretty open and clean for coloring reasons. Some of these are being colored by a couple friends of mine...im still learning PS, and Id LOVE to get Painter, but i dont have a tablet yet, so im gonna wait on that.

thanks for lookin!

EDIT:
Sorry for the poor image quality on those 2, for some reason the webhosting resized them and i cant change it :(

for some reason I really dig the one with the tetsubo (?) (I.e. the second one down).
but why is he trying to flip me the bird all discreet like?

hehe
hes my favorite of that group too
his background kinda got developed after i drew him.
hes basically a monk who got disillusioned (sp  ) with his monk life, and now hes a cocky bassturd....with a big tetsubo :D

I'd never thought of a nightstick lightsaber...Thats such a cool concept...

Everything else is good. I'm not a great fan of the style you have, but thats just a personal thing.

ya, im proud of my tonfa lightsaber..lol

and like i said in my first post, im trying to get more realistic in my art....i know my style isnt really thought of too highly here, but its gonna take a while to unlearn 16+years of trying to draw like my fav comic artists lol
this site has me motivated to start more life drawings and the like...something ive never done. never taken classes etc..im gonna start tho!!!

thanks for the comment :)

I've always wanted to see a light saber on a chain. Sort of like that cool rope + dart martial arts stuff where the combatant winds the rope around him/herself and then pow it zips out and strikes the opponent.

That last one of the dark warrior holding the dripping human head, that seems to be of the same style as some of Metzen's earlier work. Very cool.

I love those bamboo forests, as well.

"....i know my style isnt really thought of too highly here,"
screw that crap...you've got some nice concepts here. if i had to come up with a gripe it would be to watch your line weight, get some thin in there with that thick.
awesome stuff. my favorite is the one arm samurai.

Hey, i think these are good sketches, ur getting their qualitly wise and i like the creativity, just practice more because ur lines need alot of work. Try not to make such thick lines unless you want a cartoony feel to them, i would definetly use a smaller pen and save the thicker one for shapes that need to pop out i.e things in forground, fade things in backgroud, whatever is closest to viewer and thicker lines for areas you want to draw more attention too.
