Bleh, I'm beginning to think my lack of colouring skill is really letting me down. A little tricky for me as I wanted to try and stay a flat colour look (kinda) eh :/

Short description: his main power is his speed, not shooting speed, nor accuracy, but the speed of his legs. by training in old-school methods, and using his long legs the goblin becomes almost untouchable. The things on his feet are weights.

Oh, I was just afraid that I was going to get in trouble for bringing anything up! :)
Alright, going to try for crits! Maybe it'll help someone out for this week's CHOW.
Really great ideas from everyone. :)
YIIT - beautiful linework, and I really liked the take of a pirate type gunslinger. Also, loved the gun, that was awesome. My only big crit would be his left hand in the first shot and his right hand in the second shot. The left hand in the first looks very stiff, the rest of his body has a lot of natural movement and then his left hand is held very rigid even though his arm has more of a natural limp feel. Then, in the second view, his right arm is a little longer and looks like it didn't get quite as much love as the left arm.
andyoalsoak - Love the translation of the word "gunslinger". I'm having trouble telling what's going on here. His clothing blends into his arms. I think a little smoothing out on the skin would help a lot. Also, look at textures and see what materials make what kind of transitions (soft transitions vs. harsh transitions). Sorry for the lack of art terms in my crit. I'm still trying to get the language down. Hope to see your boss in this week's CHOW. :)
Adam Shumpbert - loved the gentleman goblin gunslinger. My only crit would be for the gun in the first ortho. It seems a little disconnected from his body. Maybe put some more shadows and it will look more connected. I'm not really sure.
Vorace - Loved the little guy, he seemed a lot like a caveman goblin. First crit, where's the back view? :) And second, maybe make it a little more clear he's a gunslinger, right now the gun is kind of lost in his little packrat mentality. :)
timothee - loved his clothes and the midwest sheriff type attitude. He doesn't seem very goblinesque to me. (I'm in no way an expert on goblins, this was actually the first time I tried to do anything with goblins.) The first thing that came to mind was human, and then demon, before I thought goblin. I don't really know why, but I think it was the shape of the face. And, really, that was a design choice. Great job on it, loved the rendering.
artdwx - Loved it. The colors look good. Only crit would be that his left leg is different and not sitting quite right in the back view. Also, the gun.....I'm going to say barrel, the shiny metal part.....looks a little bit flat on th back view.
Daray - go girl goblins! :) Like the pirate look. Only crit, the straps in the back of her coat look like they are missing in the first view. I could be mistaken, but I think you'd be able to see the bottom of the first strap.
matjosh - loved your take! It was really out there but still fit the brief beautifully. I'm sort of stretching for the crit on this, but in the first ortho, his pipe kind of blends into his fur coat.
Redfrog - loved him, he looks really devious. I'm extremely curious on how you'll take take this week's CHOW.
Arthur "Two Sheds" - I absolutely loved your revolutionary war goblin. It looks like something I would put on my wall. :) I would have liked to see the orthos more prominent since they were the main focus this week. I hope you tackle this week's CHOW.
flow - loved the hat! He seemed a little bit flat in some areas and in others he really popped. If that makes any sense.
Goog - loved the design. I think he looked a little flat though, some deeper shadows would've given him a little more depth. :)
Dr Pudding - loved the character, very space gunslinger looking. His right leg doesn't seem to bend though and the guns look a little flat, like you didn't quite make it that far in the rendering.
ZyclonB - Loved the futuristic look. He looks very demented, I hope you do this week's CHOW because I wonder how you'll take the Boss!
earfuzz - I liked the design on this. I think his feet and hands need some work. His feet for instance don't sit on the ground and they are not shaped properly. Also, bring his eyes lower on his face, especially that left one. Keep it up, hope to see you in future CHOWs.
Dan! - loved the design and the take on this. I think some of the details such as the chains and the bandages could have been a little bit easier to read, but overall I really love it.
Hungryan - I missed you! I can't believe it. I'm terribly sorry. :( I loved the take on him. One question, does the gun go inside the duck?
Desmayado - really loved this guy. The mask is awesome. My only crit would be that in the front and back view he's leaning backwards a lot and he could get locked knees very easily. Of course, goblin physiology could be quite different and locking their knees won't affect them! :)
Zimfin - Loved the design, and way to take last minute suggestions and apply them! I would love to see your take on this week's CHOW, especially as demented as he looks.
Boase - liked the design. On the profile view, he looks like he's leaning way too far forward.
rswanson - I liked him, I can so see him walking through somewhere like the panhandle of Oklahoma back in the old west days, taking out the people trying hide in No Man's Land. :)
Whew! Sorry some of the last ones weren't quite as detailed as the first.
As a general note to everyone, I really hope you do next week's. I think it'd be interesting to see the designs!

Voted for Matjosh. I love your Goblin. So much attitude and style, very nice work.

Man oh MAN!! My problem was trying not to vote for EVERYONE. No point in that. I narrowed my votes down significantly, but it wasn't easy because almost everyone hit the mark and hit it hard! :D Heeey, I now learned how to do orthographic views! How neat! :D
Who I voted for:
Boase: That is one SCARY goblin, lemme tell ya! I think you did excellent with all the details!! His face doesn't seem consistent with each view where it's visible. That's the only problem I have with it!
MJ Alcazar: Great design! She fits the brief pretty well! I think you tackled her outfit and weapons very nicely! I do find the piece a tad blurry/muddy. I suppose the background adds to the muddy look. Otherwise, great work!
rswanson: I REALLY like yours!! O_O You have it DOWN!! That goblin looks like he means business, but also a little like he's gonna be mischevious now and then. This is funny to say, but I love his butt! I do! XD Magnificently clear details, and fantastic expression! I like that he has his gun...thing (I'm not guessing what it is, I'll be wrong...almost said holster) on the right but seems to use the gun well on the left! Seems like it's better to move that way!
Adam Schumpert: Lovin' yours!! I think yours was the first one I was reeled into. I think everything works on it--suit, tough expression, that awesome hat, the gun and those big hands. I'm not big on the shoes, yet they work with his getup! Love that cigar sticking out of his mouth!!
timothee: He is awesome looking!! Looks a bit more like a dastardly man fit for a cool cartoon, than a goblin. But wow, he sure looks like he knows what he's doing!! Definitely has some tricks up his sleeve! I just love his stance and that look in his eyes...man!
matjosh: Mmmm-hmmm!! O_O This one seems shameless. I like him!! XD I bet he's got some crazy witt and humour about him, too! Even though he looks so serious. Magnificent details, he's one of my favourites!! I'm glad to see such a candid 3/4 view!! O_O Wow, that's some skill! :D I can't help but wonder why he wears the fur. That's major pimpage right there! :D
ZyklonB: O_O Wow... I needed to find words to show my utter amazement in your goblin gunslinger... Oh. My. Lawd. He would lay waste to a city I'm sure!! Or at least get really close!! I'm looking at the writing on his gear... If he wrote that down himself, impressive!! XD Just...MAN, details!!! Gosh!! I love the belt... and all that gear connected to it. I want that belt... Scary joker-esque but scarier smile. Excellent work. I won't go outside for lunch now. >_<
zimfin: Glad to see you'll be sticking around for CHOWs!! I'm ashamed, haven't even entered ONE yet. :P Love your goblin. He has the naughty and scary look down!! Ohhhh, what's he gonna do with that gun?? Even though I'm sure there's at least ONE thing he'd do...probably would whack someone in the back of the head with it. :P Anyway, I like the detail you put into yours, and to me, you've made one of the more accurate portrayals of the brief!!
artdwx: I like the colours in yours!! He's got a neat futuristic look to him or something!! Looks like he could go planet-hopping if he wanted!! That being said, the gun doesn't seem to match his look as much! There's something more primitive about the way it looks, though it, and the knife gun, are both good designs!! Well, either way with the guns, the character looks awesome! You did so good with details!!
DrPudding: Whoooa. O_O Looking crazy scary! I bet even some goblins would be freaked out by him! I am especially loving the face!! I like what he's wearing, too!! Picky me though, the upper and lower halfs to me look off-balance--the bottom half looks more to my left than it should be. Hard to say though. Great work!!!
Would've voted for:
corspufo: Ahhh, sorry you didn't make it!! I'd have voted for you! Your goblin looks so eerie!! I'm sure it's not only the gun that would do heavy damage, in his case!! O_O Awesome details, and I like how you showed distance via fog/dust in the views! Scary cape, looks like it has a life of its own!!
Everyone else, and really, I'd have voted for many more, but HAD to stop and narrow things down!! >_< Here goes:
YITT: I find it too hard to make out. It the 3/4 view though, what I see is really well done! I just can't fully appreciate the details you might've put in. :( I hope you can bring out more contrast for the next time!
andyowlsoak: Nice work! Careful of those boots; they aren't consistent in height for any of the views. (I know it's really hard getting consistency in such views...I tried...I really tried. LOL!) Looking at the crotch, holy cow!! O_O That's somethin' else! I think my favourite thing about this piece is how he's holding the gun. It's just...it seems like a cool characteristic!
Vorace: *whistle* Good grief, the details are crazy!! O_O I can see why you didn't have a back view there!! Man, kudos for that!! I find there's too much going on...on his head and with his...belt. I can't accurately see a gunslinger, but I'm not sure what he'd be. Just that I sure wouldn't mess with him!!
Daray: Actually, I think the colours work well for your goblin gunslinger! :D I think the combination is awesome! Greeeat costume!! She looks piratey, and I'm all for that!! XD Ah, I also noticed about the straps on her jacket. It's just an inconsistency with the views. The straps don't show up in the front view. The shoulder thing looks like it's covering more of her arm in the profile view. And her hands are hiding in the profile and back views. Still, it's another great design to me, good job with it!! I bet she'd be awesome in a story!
Redfrog: I like your style!! He seems like a comical sort, but I guess that's what he'd WANT us to think. o_O Great contrast and details!! Oooh-hoo, what expression is beneath that bandana?? XD
Arthur 'Two_Sheds': I see who's getting the job done here. ;) Niiiice movement!! And I'm not speaking of that animation on the right, which is still cool!! XD I don't know why, but it's a bit hard to tell if he's a goblin or what. I wish I could see his face!! O_O I wonder what expression it holds... Might want to make the orthographs larger for next time! Well, that's just my bad eyesight, but I'm interested in seeing the parts closer-up!
|flow| : Definitely a unique look!! Hee hee!! I love his smile. :D It's comical but there's a little "uh-ohhh..." going off for me!! O_O I'm curious about how he might stand while holding the gun. It would be interesting to see!
Goog: I like what he's wearing! Very intriguing!! To me though, he looks more like a nicely built green man, so you might want to try exaggerating his features even more to bring out the goblin-ness!! I'm sure you'd make him look awesome!! Looks good already. ;) Rawr!!
earFuzz: I think you did very nicely! The linework could be a little smoother, and I'd actually love to see him holding the gun! But you captured him, and I can see him as one of those upstanding types! And hey, kudos to him for going around in bare feet! Wouldn't be me!! O_O
Dan!: I'm not sure I see gunslinger OR goblin so closely!! He could stomp the goblins down without a sweat! So I guess the issue is that he looks like some other scary being to me, but now that I look again, I could see a goblin king--tyrannical and just plain menacing... Yeah, I can see that in him somehow! O_O
hungryan: I see the goblin and the gun, but I think it would help even more to see the connection--having him at least holding the gun, even having it concealed but clearly on his person. Great details though!! Just...well, you said it anyway. Hee hee!
Desmayado: He looks good!! Looks also like he's about to fall!! O_O It's just the way his legs and feet appear in the front and back views. Great work with his outfit!

well, I was skirting the edge of the brief a little bit. When I read gunslinger all I could think was "mech". So goblin gunslinger made me think of a sort of battlesuit wearing goblin. These units would be hacked together from remaining pieces of battle debris- sometimes on the spot. This is goblin stuff so nothing is off limits therefore they find fitting orc or troll bodies and retro fit them with canon and whatnot and off they go.

Anyone know why my scanner has that bright blue light right in the middle of some of my scans? And, is there anyway I can stop it from doing that?

really bizzare, what thickness is the paper you are scanning? I used to find if it was a thin sheet of paper the light would reflect and so I would place some more or cardboard to stop that. If its not that then... pass :P
