The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 23rd of November.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras....and can be in any media, digital or traditional is fine.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do a Optional Study of "Mountains", in any media. Black and White or Colour is fine.

:muscle: Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!:muscle:

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

I don't deserve that star, I haven't finished and submitted my optional last time... I hope I will make it this time (I really want to, it's a subject that is dear to me, but I'm totally inexperienced with it :bashful:). - EDIT: I did, it's only a very quick one.
now my gestures (I really need to focus to the gesture itself, copy with anatomy is more showy, but I don't learn the most basic part and I don't have several hours for them either).

Great job AndreRuben, coffee break drawings? Looking nice, I find faces tough as hell.

shiNIN: You've been around for a while now, you last longer than most ^^. Keep it up, there's a few nice ones among those where you can see the improvement. Keep some reference lying around as a reminder for proportions and inspiration. See you next week!

Anthis: thanks... I am in my long delicate "I'm trying to be serious" period, I draw too little and am uncertain... but I won't give it up :) I'll be here in the future, too :) gestures are important and well, I have a very, very long way to go...
I like your optional :)

Anthis: some of them are life drawings made on subway/bus, others are from photos. Do you do yours from photos? (if yes, are they from a site you can share??). i love them, very clean lines and still the forms are very obvious and convincing. i must try similair aproaches

shiNIN: You have very good drawings but others are not very convincing.. I suggest you to try to spend a liiiitle more time with each pose, quickly compare sizes and distances between points of the figure and body parts.. do it in a very intuitive way.. and i think it would be better if you draw them a litle bigger

well, these ones were very quick ones in a tired state, many of them from my own mind. I suck at this style anyway, at the essence of gestures... so these aren't good :( oh and digital work, another handicap.
and I drew them bigger. no good, I miss the detailfulness of paper.
in the past I drew bodies with anatomy, mainly from photos, for several hours every week. but I think a few really detailed naked body would be more useful for me. I try to make _gestures_ for these activities. and I fail at them epically at the moment :(
I need much more practice.

shiNIN; Thats great, I think this thing is way underpopulated for such a good practice. I agree with the rest you said, much of it applies to me too.
AndreRuben; I usually do these without particular reference. Although I always keep general reference around to prevent me from deviating from the right proportions. I find that having loads of good ref around helps a lot. I get my ref mostly from browsing these forums or just plain browsing the internet and saving all. You can also try softcore galleries for female poses (easy to find, and you can usually avoid the more pornographic content)
Nice to see some of yours are from life. Should do that more often myself.

I really don't understand... most graphician drew humans... gestures are essential... I'm sure there are many people here on CA who could use these studies (well, many do them, only not here. for me it's easier if I do it for an activity).

references... I spent a lot time searching for them, it was tiresome sometimes (I needed legs too... I'm bad with them). I will reusing them, there are some nice one and I draw easier if I like the pose.
classic body builder photos may be good too, not too much muscle, full body - there are very funny unnatural poses too, though :D

my favourite is real life drawing, it's so incredibly easier and better. I should do it more often...

Anthis: wow, no particular ref... i suck THIS MUCH at drawing without reference.. still waiting for the day that i will draw something good looking without reference.. x\

shiNIN: i dont know if you already drew many poses in traditional mediums, bit if not, i suggest you do..

Hey i found an awesome site for these poses.. i've been adicted to it.. i've drew like 500 poses since the last time i posted in this thread

its a flash that generates a diferent model/pose each 10 seconds or each 15, 30 seconds.. whatever you chose...

AndreRuben: except for this round, I drew my gestures mainly or totally with pencil. I always have my current sketchbook with me.
I'm not using it enough :(
